Love'm or hate'm, I imagine (almost) everyone has created a tough-as-nails, take-no-BS melee scrapper hero(ine) at some point, heavily and/or obviously influenced/inspired by the cantankerous canuck prototype, Wolverine… maybe you even straight up clone/hacked a 2.0 version, or combo'd his best qualities with that of another hero's to give it your personal twist?

Well, here's mine… his name is Rottweiler and he's here to stay and kick bootay. He's a bit Logan-meets Beast-with a hint of Spidey. I'm sure there are other Loganesque creations out there as well -- post 'em if you got 'em!

Animal Training - canine specialist

BACKGROUND

Jason Voeller worked as a night security guard for a small German-run bio-tech lab based in San Francisco called, Erneuernox. The company provided off-site assistance and data analysis for unclassified radiation experiments conducted at both Lawrence Berkeley and Livermore National Laboratories. However, Erneuernox scientists secretly conducted their own experiments, subjecting various test animals to high-level radiation exposure and bio-engineering based on research from the two Nat'l Labs.

One dark and ominous night while Jason was on routine patrol at Erneuernox, a radioactive mutate rottweiler test animal was startled by the arrival of a violent lightning and thunder storm and managed to escape confinement. It then ambushed the unsuspecting night watchman and clamped its crushing jaws onto his arm. It was all Jason could do to unload a full clip into the dog at point blank range, effectively killing it, but in turn triggering a violent chemical explosion and massive fire with a stray bullet. Bloodied, burnt, and lungs filled of mixed chemicals, he miraculously escaped the infernal building before the whole thing went up in flames.

Shaken by the ordeal, Jason managed to flag down a passerby to call 911 then waited on the curb for an ambulance; however upon inspection of his mauled arm and burn wounds, he found his injuries had mysteriously healed with only his torn and bloody sleeve suggesting prior injury. Beside himself in disbelief, he quickly fled the scene.

Later acquitted of any wrongful intent or negligence in the Erneuernox fire fiasco, Jason was released by the company anyway. Amazingly he found that as a result of the radioactive dog bite coupled with the inhaled mixed chemical fumes, his entire body underwent extraordinary physiological changes, taking on many amplified attributes of his late canine assailant.

A few days later, while strolling Golden Gate Park and pondering unemployment as well as his new uncanny dog powers, Jason stumbled upon three large men harassing a young woman on an afternoon run. Jason quickly intervened, and easily trounced the thugs without so much as breaking a sweat. He was thanked immensely by the young lady (who would later become his girlfriend Emma) and decided a life dedicated to fighting crime with his new superpowers was his new calling.

After mulling over a few possible super-heroic monikers ("Dog-Boy", "Mighty-Mutt", "Under-Bite", "The Snarler", "Pawzilla" etc etc.) Jason simply opted for "the Rottweiler" (or "Rottie" as Emma affectionately calls him) in honor of the canine whose special gifts he'd inherited.

He and Emma have recently moved from San Francisco across the bay into a small apartment in the quaint Piedmont area of North Oakland. Emma has taken a job in a ritzy restaurant called, "La Rivière" as a sous chef; while Jason toggles part-time work between the Oakland Animal Control & Wildlife Removal center, and being an ice cream server at the famous Fenton's Ice Creamery, on top of being a wannabe crime fighter.

How Rottweiler will fare against Oakland's notorious underworld remains to be seen.

I had one. I called him Bloodhound. Kind of a Sabretooth-turned-hero type, with some psychic ability.

Bloodhound

Real Name: Benjamin Dulake

F: RM 30
A: IN 40
S: EX 20
E: IN 40
R: EX 20
I: RM 30
P: EX 20

Health: 130
Karma: 70
Popularity: 5
Resources: GD 10

Powers:
Beastial Physiology: A mutant physiology grants him the following:
-Claws: retractable bone claws in his fingertips that appear from under the nails. Made of IN material and deals EX 20 Edged damage.
-Healing: IN 40 Rengeneration and Recovery.
-Enhanced Senses: RM Night Vision, Infra-Vision, Analytical/Tracking Scent, and Ultra-Hearing.
-The Rage: If Ben isn't careful, he could enter a state he calls The Rage. The Rage is a sort of quasi-psionic physical enhacement. Every Physical Stat and all powers boosts by +1 CS, but he's unabel to use his Ultimate Skill, and his Reason is reduced to Feeble. The state lasts until he rolls a Red Psyche Feat. He only enters The Rage if he rolls a 01 in combat.

Minor Psionics: His mutated neural network can simulate the following abilities:
-Insight: Ben can glean basic information about people by scanning their aura with IN ability. This information is limited to basic personality traits, good or evil inclinations, even whether or not the person is lying.
-Mental Bloodhound: Once Ben has scanned someone's aura, he can read its impressions on the environment. He has to actively be looking for it (it just won't suddenly show up on his radar, so to speak), but he can track people with AM ability using these impressions.
-TK Movement: A strange alteration in his neural net allows him some limited Telekinesis. This allows him to leap, cling to surfaces, and otherwise run with RM ability and Speed.
-Ultimate Skill: Martial Arts B, puts his Fighting at Unearthly Ability when in unarmed combat.

Talents:
Martial Arts E, Detective/Espionage, Law

History:
Ben Dulake is a mutant whose abilities enhaced his physiology and altered his neural network. He tried to keep his abilities a secret as much as possible, but he wasn't able to get away from the persecution. He was almost a beaten man at the age of 18, almost an animal, until a man named Logan found him and introduced him to a man name Xavier.

Ben, now 26, found that he has a knack for finding people and things. He decided not to keep his identity a secret, starting Bloodhound Investigations out of a little shop in Manhattan.

Limitations:
Must rest 1 hour every 16 hours. Because she's part human, her human side constantly ages, so the changeling part is constantly working to undo this. So, every 16 hours, she ages as a human normally ages, but once that one hour is up, she regresses back that one hour.

History:
Crystal McLeod is an agent of Section 31 and serves under Agent Sloane. When she died returning from a mission on Cardassia, Sloane put her body in stasis and took her to Adigeon Prime with a sample of Odo's DNA. He had the Adigeons isolate the regenerative powers of Odo's DNA. It took them 3 months before they came up with a way to combine the changeling and human DNA. It was injected into McLeod and she came back to life and has continued to work for Section 31. After the Dominion War, she was assigned to do recon on the Breen.

FTJ - haha, thx! Yeah I really like Rottie, I think he is "pretty cool" too, as you mentioned; only I'm not sure when/if I'll ever get to play him unless I NPC him in my group's current RL campaign sad smiley btw, nice hearing from ya! Still have fond memories of our (short-lived) p-b-p game featuring 'Marion' the bird girl among others. From time-to-time I've thought of trying that again, capped to 3, max 4 players (quickly became a beastly time-sink otherwise.)

Outlaw - "Bloodhound" is pretty tight! I espec. like the psionic impression slant. It's a nice/different take on tracking. Was curious if the he actually saw any game time and how often (if ever?) "The Rage" was triggered...

Anyway, cool stuff. Noticing a trend though... Rottweiler, Bloodhound... hmmm...

He saw a little game time, like, one session. The Rage DID get triggered, but I made my Psyche Feat the next round, so it didn't see much. I purposely made it rare so that it'd be more of a disadvantage than a reliable power.

As for a hankering for Pork, I never played up that angle. But I imagine he would............

I'll have to see if I can dig up the stats for IronWolf. He was one of my first characters and I created him kind of as a mix of Dr. Doom and Wolverine.
He was a mutant with regeneration and bionic arms with retractable claws. He had some magical abilities and armor similar to Doom's.

That makes sense and probably wouldn't want it happening too often either (I didn't catch the part about his Reason turning to mush earlier)

Ironwolf, that sounds like a pretty wicked character combo and power set; hope you're able to find his info or if not, that you can recreate / post him to the best of your knowledge - the concept sounds interesting and vicious to say the least

Wrestling

Tumbling

Powers:
Hyper-Regeneration: Am 50 Rabid regenerates 50pts./rd regardless of activity.

- Limitation: For every 1 point of damage he regenerates Peter must consume 10 calories of food. He has stored up an extra 20 pounds on his body. ( 1 pound = 3,500 calories. ) This equals 70,000 extra calories or 7,000 points of regeneration that Peter is capable of regenerating!!! ( This equals 140 rounds of regeneration, or 14 minutes at full regeneration. ) If Peter exhausts this supply he must consume a lot of food to replenish it.

- Self Revival: Un 100 Peter has come back from the dead on numerous occasions.

- Recovery: Am 50 Rabid is able to recover lost E: at an alarming rate.

- Res. vs. Toxins: In 40 Peter will suffer the effects of toxins but his body just won't quit. Poisons simply do initial damage and cause him pain. The duration and intensity of this pain is equal to the power rank of the toxin in minutes. ( "Typical" Snake venom causes Gd 10 pain for 10 minutes. )

- Res. vs. Disease: Mn 75 Again disease do only initial damage and then are resisted. ( Microbes don't even do Fe 2 dmg. )

Equipment:

Playing style:
Rabid gets into things he shouldn't. He'll fight the biggest, meanest guy out there. He frequently wins these battles simply by outlasting the opposition. Most people would consider Rabid either an idiot or masochist. Any time the situation is going poorly Rabid will selflessly throw him self in harms way. He has chopped of his own limbs when in handcuffs, throw himself off buildings while holding explosive devises etc. All in the name of saving people or his teammates. After really brutal combat Rabid will sit and eat for hours. This is how he got his nickname "Snack-Attack". It is also understood that Team Leader pays for dinner after a really brutal battle.

Appearance:
Rabid wears boots, denim and t-shirts. He doesn't do much to hide his identity.

History:
Peter has always been a scrapper. From a very early age he fought anything that came his way. He tried out for wrestling, football and even karate while in school. Each time he was dropped from the teams for being to aggressive and unnecessarily rough. As an adult he has had frequent run ins with the law. Not so much because he is a trouble maker but more from the fact that he doesn't back down from any challenge thrown at him. He meets force with force and hostility with hostility.
When not acting as Rabid Peter bounces between construction and day labor jobs. His lack of tact frequently gets him fired from any job before long.

Contacts:
John would like to think he has many contacts. However his personality rubs most people the wrong way. Any one he asks for favors always seem to have a valid reason not to help him.

Powers:
6.25% Lycanthrope: John is a proud 5th. generation werewolf / Native American. Unfortunately his bloodline is severely diluted and he only has marginal access to a full werewolf's abilities:
- Claws: Pr 4
- Infra-vision: Pr 4 John is able to see within his immediate area as if daylight conditions even at night and fog.
- True Invulnerability: Gd 10 -3cs from all damage. This is even from silver attacks.
- Leaping: Gd 10 John is able to jump 20' up or across and 30' down with out taking damage.
- Hyper-Running: Pr 4 John is able to cover 3 areas/rd for over an hour without having to make an E: FEAT.
- Enhanced Senses: Pr 4 John has senses far above that of normal humans, though far short of a true werewolf.
-- Tracking: Fe 2 Though not his specialty John is able to track targets by smell if he gets on the trail within 20 minutes.
- Empathy/Nonaggression: True werewolves see John shares in the bloodline and typically will not show aggression towards him.

Equipment:

Playing style:
John will often and repeatably tell others of his heritage. I.E. He's 6.25% Lycanthrope, 50% Native American ( 15% Sioux, 35% Hopi ) . So much so that it becomes annoying. He comes off as "more Earthly than thou". He eats only organics. Preferring meats. He dresses in only "Earth friendly" clothing. He drinks blood and practices whatever the latest fad in "natural" living styles is out. He practices a bastardized version of Wiccan and Native American traditions and religion.
When not on his "high horse" preaching about himself or how to live a more "natural and fulfilling" lifestyle John is actually fun to be around.

During combat Wolf is a nasty fighter he tries to bring the fight to an end as quickly as possible. All's fair in love and war. He will try for groin, throat and nerve points when attacking. He is not above clawing the eyes. He has noble intentions, the quicker the enemy is down the less damage they can do.

Everyone on the team calls him "Eddy" or "Eddy Monster" behind his back as a joke. Slugfest is the only one who will call him this to his face but only does it when John starts going into his "preacher mode."

John owns and works at an independent book / coffee shop / pagan and religious supplies / organic foods / music store.

Appearance:
John dresses in the latest and most trendy "Earth friendly" attire. Wolf dresses similarly but with a more Native American feel. As Wolf he wears beads, moccasins, and untanned leathers. He hides his face behind a leather mask that covers from his hair line to his nose with holes for his eyes. Most true Native Americans would feel insulted or mocked by John or Wolf.

History:
John grew up in a home with a proud father. His dad would always tell John about how great his ancestors were and it was a shame that John would never be as great as him or his ancestors. John constantly lived in the shadow of this perceived greatness and his own failings.

When John graduated he left home and has never attempted to establish contact with his father again. He moved to New York and fell into the "naturalist" society. He worked hard and saved enough money to open a little book store that has done surprisingly well. It has grown over the years into its' own cliquish domain.

No one can figure out why John spends the nights as the Wolf. Maybe he is trying to prove his father wrong. John would be mortified if he was able to step out side himself and see that he has become his father. He preaches about his own greatness just as much if not more than his father did to him.

- Hyper-Regeneration: Fe 2 Rage heals 2pts/rd while in berserk mode.
- Extra Attacks: Ex 20 Rage may make 2 attacks each round without penalty.

Powers Stunts:
Strength Surge: Some times Rage needs more strength instead of fighting. Before entering his berserk mode he may chose to channel his rage into a pure manifestation of strength. This grants him S: Ex 20

Super Strength: When extreme measures are called for Rage can gain S: Rm 30 on a Green P: FEAT while in his "Strength Surge" Berserker mode. Note: If Rage attempts a RED S: FEAT while he has S: Rm 30 ( I.E. Lifting 10 tons. ) . Upon leaving his berserker stage Rage takes 40 points of damage, H: -12 and is dead. He can lift 10 tons it's just going to kill him.

Equipment:

Playing style:
Tony is normally the nice, quite guy. Rage is course and aggressive but still oddly respective of other people. Tony just wants to help others and does this through his Rage persona. He will go out of the way to protect people from harm. In combat he is quick to jump in against even the strongest of opponents. He is not as durable as Rabid however and instead of going toe to toe against an opponent he will attempt feints and dodges. He looks for weak points or environmental advantages against the opponent. If he is unable to effect an opponent he will still act as a distraction and continue attacks and maneuvers to aggravate and frustrate his opponent.

Tony is a Senior Manager at a large super store franchise. Tony has many times been put on probation for pursuing and capturing shop lifters. However he has also single handily stopped an aggressive armed robber in his store. Stopped many marital fights and interceded between two gangs that met each other in his parking lot.
Within his store he has been given the name of "The Judge" and is widely respected and admired.

Appearance:
Rage is dresses in black. This includes: Steel toes boots, denim jeans, a thermal full sleeve undershirt, fingerless gloves. He covers his face with a custom ordered half mask made of steel that covers the upper portion of his face.

History:
Tony has been aware of his temper for as long as he can remember. He is also aware that his temper and anger are his powers. When he was only 10 he remembers the car falling off the jack and crushing his father. Tony feebly tried to lift the car but it wouldn't budge. His dad was going to die and there was nothing Tony could do. Tony started to cry but still the car would not move. Tony was getting angry. At his dad, at this stupid car, at death and at himself for being weak. RED. Tony saw red and nothing else. The next thing Tony knew the car was a good 5' away on its' side. His dad was unconscious, however someone must have called the police or something. Within minutes police, firefighters and an ambulance was on site. Tony's dad lived but no one was ever able to explain who knocked the car over.

Over the years Tony has found he is able to put himself in an "elevated" state. He doesn't physically change in any apparent ways but his strength becomes incredible.
However he always goes back in his head to the day his dad almost died. He relives that feeling of weak inadequacies of a little 10 year old watching his dad die.
Tony frequently hides tears from his teammates upon leaving his berserker stage.

Health: 30

Talents:
Trivia: Super Villain "Master Plans" & Defeats. Tim can tell you just about any major league villains previous plans and humiliating defeat.
Insult Master: Slugfest is able to insult so well it may be a power. A P: FEAT can be called for to resist wanting to bash Slugfest. If this FEAT fails the target gets another P: FEAT at -2cs to resist carrying out this impulse. Each round Slugfest continues his insult barrage these P: FEAT may be called into action. ( GM discretion. )
Unavoidable: Slugfest has developed a unique form of combat and is able to grant an attacker a +1cs to hit him.
Performer: Standup Comic ( Slugfest has this talent not Tim. )
Sleight of Hand:
Thrown Objects:

Contacts:
None at this time.

Powers:
Kinetic Absorption / Self Duplication: CL 1000 Res. vs. physical trauma. Tim possesses an unusual form of resistance to physical harm. Every time Tim takes damage from a physical attack he absorbs the damage and stores it like a battery. Damage taken bleeds off at a rate of 1 pt./rd. However if Tim takes 40 points of physical damage he automatically produces a pseudo-man. These duplicates of Tim are actually pink genderless bipeds with no apparent sensory organs. For every 40 points of damage Tim takes he produces 1 of these duplicates. On a successful P: FEAT Tim may store this energy to produce a stronger duplicate. For every 40 points stored the duplicate will gain 10 points to its' FASE upon release. If Tim fails his P: FEAT the duplicate is automatically produced. These duplicates are obedient to Tim only if at anytime control is taken away they disintegrate immediately.

Physical trauma covers Ba, Ea, Sh, Te, Tb, Fo, Gp, Ch and falling. Please note Tim can still be stunned or slammed from these attacks.
Choking may not cause physical damage but a lose of oxygen will still kill Tim.

Powers:
Absorption Power (Kinetic): Un 100 Pseudo-Men gain H: as well as S: and E: from kinetic based attacks. Kinetic energy is divided equally between H:, S: and E:. Health can far exceed that which can normally be gained from FASE.

Limitation:
Pseudo-Men lose H: equal to their E: each round.
Pseudo-Men can not hit each other to gain health or to enhance their S: or E:

~~~~~~
Equipment:
Eggs, rotten vegetables.
Super soaker filled with "urine": Range is 100' , takes 3 rounds to prime, 6 shots available. ( Disgusting ... YES !!! But if someone shot you with urine would you punch him? ) He really fills it with a foul concoction of his own devising but it smells like the real thing.
Wrist mounted super soaker: Range is 25' , takes 3 rounds to prime, 6 shots available. ( This is filled with cheap perfume. +1cs to tracking by scent. )
Playing style:
Tim is a wisecracking smart ass. He will insult anyone, anywhere while in costume. He tries to get the bad guys as angry as possible. This is all part of Tim's strategy. Most big hulking brutes dislike an insignificant peon disrespecting them. He will do what ever it takes for them to explode on him. He is not stupid however and minds his tongue with energy wielding villains. Out of costume Tim trips over his words to the point of mild stuttering and prefers listening over talking.
Appearance:
Slugfest dresses in an outlandish costume of bright red and orange. His shirt proudly displays Florida University complete with a large prominent F.U. on his chest. He carries an assortment of gear designed to anger and humiliate his opponents.
History:
Tim always wanted to be a standup comic. Ever since he could remember that has been his dream. Unfortunately for Tim his dreams came crashing to reality the day he got his chance. Tim bombed on stage big time. After this incident he developed a mild stutter and felt he was unable to follow in his dream. Tim was so depressed he never seen the bus that slammed into him. It propelled him through the air a good 50'. Surprisingly this didn't kill him but a weird pinkish protoplasm creature was shot out of Tim. Tim ran home trying to figure out what had happened. Through much trial and error Tim established an understanding of his unique gift.
Tim now roams the streets as Slugfest. He has continued his dream as a standup comedian. His audience is now the villain in front of him and their applause is the punch to his jaw. Tim also does normal standup as Slugfest in venues around NYC and is enjoying a limited amount of fame. However most people are apprehensive about booking a guy who insults powerful, evil and dangerous people as a way of life.
Fell, these guys rock! they need matching Harley's or an A-Team van! Something equally worthy of their motley collective coolness
Not sure which one's my fav… the guy who doesn't think twice about getting blown to bits vaulting off buildings with live bombs, only to self revive and eat like a maniac; or a trash-talker who sprays you with pee and expels, "pink genderless bipeds with no apparent sensory organs" if you punch him in the face -- that's just friggin' creepy, man! This is one I came up with a few weeks ago. He's a cross between Logan, Colossus and Absalom from the Externals.
Nicholas "Quill" Krajkowski
Origin: Mutant
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 185 lbs. (both in metal and human forms)
Ethnicity: Polish
Age: 574
Hair color: Brown
Hair length: medium
Hair style: faux hawk
Eye color: Blue
Birthplace: Warsaw, Poland
Base of Operations: Warsaw, Poland
Religion: Roman Catholic
Known relatives: Feliks (father, dead), Isabela (mother, dead), Adam (brother, dead), Alicja (sister, dead), Cecylia, (sister, dead), Emiliana (sister, dead)
F Ex 20 (he's been in some fights, but he's also been alive for almost 600 years)
A Ex 20 (he's spent most of his life using hand tools to mine minerals, so he's got a developed hand-eye coordination)
S Gd 10 (he's often had to break rocks by hand, while in human form)
E Rm 30 (again, he has spent a large portion of his life working in mines)
R Rm 30 (he keeps up with modern devices that are used in mining)
I Ex 20 (his fine eye for detail originated in identifying stones, metals and minerals)
P Gd 10 (over the years, he's sold pieces for himself and has had to look out for people trying to swindle him)
Health 80
Karma 60
Popularity -5 (ID is not publicly known) /5 (law abidding citizen that has helped get a few people to the hospital or freed for an ambulance when needed [though the victims never saw him use his powers] and even had a story written about him in the paper once after the victim told a reporter about the incident)
Resources In 40 (his investments from his mining has netted him millions over the centuries, even if the fortune is not legally in his name)
Powers:
Organic Titanium: Once his mutant powers activated, his organic titanium form with the spikes is his natural state. He can turn his body back to soft, human tissue. He still thinks as quickly as people do when in his metal form, but his muscles don't move as quick. Damage in either human or metal form doesn't carry over and doesn't show up when switching back. His armored form gives him the following:
-provides Am 50 protection from energy and physical attacks
-provides Rm 30 protection against corrosives (titanium is weak to concentrated corrosives, Incredible intensities or greater)
-provides Am 50 protection from Fire and Cold (titanium will catch fire before reaching its melting point)
-Spikes: all of the hair on his head, including facial hair, stiffens into jutted out spikes when he's in armored form, giving them Am 50 piercing damage
-Immortality: His natural state is of a living metal. His human appearance form is from residual self-image at the time his powers activated, which were when he was 19
-stat increase: In metal form, his stats become Strength: Am 50 and Endurance: Am 50
Talents:
Metallurgy, Geology, Gemology, Mining, Improvised Weapons, Espionage, Languages: Polish (the different forms over the centuries), Russian (the different forms over the centuries), German, History: Poland
Contacts:
MÅ‚ynarz, Mazurski, Nowak and Wilk (law firm)
Limitations:
1) -2CS movement speed when in metal form
2) If he's bombarded with deuterons when in his metal form, he will become radioactive and emit positrons and gamma rays mostly.
History:
Born on October 31, 1439, the same day Sigismund Kęstutaitis had to make his last reconfirmation of his loyalty to Poland.
He was a miner in Warsaw, Poland and there was a cave in. So, when his powers activated to protect himself, he turned into the living version of the toughest metal in the cave, titanium. He dug down through the rock to give himself some breathing room and reached a large cave, but fell through and landed in a pool of water. The cave was lit up with large, bioluminescent creatures that lined the walls and floor of the cave not covered in water. Seeing the light shimmer around him, he looked down and saw his arms were silvery grey-white with purple accents.
He moved his arms to his side and looked at the slowing water. Nick saw his reflection, his metal skin and his now stiffened out hair. A few stones dropped into the water around him and he looked up, the opening in the ceiling slowly spilling rocks. He moved out from under the opening and turned around, looking back at where he fell from. He looked over his shoulder and thought God had saved him, but wished he could look human again. He felt something happening. So, he looked in the water and he was human again.
The pool spilled into a narrow stream downhill and he followed it. It lead him to a dirt mound wall with a little bit of light shining through. He put his right hand at the opening and started digging, his hand turning back into metal. Nick crawled his way through and out into the air. He stood up and someone yelled nearby. He turned around and saw someone on top of the hill, looking down on him. Nick started to raise his right hand and saw it was still metal, so he dropped it and waved his left hand in the air.
Over the years, he has supported himself as being a miner and when banks, interest, lawyers and law firms showed, he's allowed the firms over the years to handle finances, so he didn't have to be the focus of other peoples' curiosities. The current form his firm is in is called MÅ‚ynarz, Mazurski, Nowak and Wilk.
During World Wars 1 and 2, Nick was a linguist and a resistance fighter when Germany occupied the country.
Very cool! For sure a heavier "Piotr Rasputin" flavor than Logan, but cool nontheless. Pretty developed in-depth info too: deceased relatives, history, etc.... did he see much (if any) actual play time?
KNOWN POWERS
- PLIABLE PHYSIOLOGY, GD 8.
· Damage Displacement: Highly-malleable physiology lessens all non-energy, kinetic-based damage by -2 ranks;
· Ignores Slam results on successful Power rank FEAT roll;
· By compressing her frame, she can squeeze through openings and gaps as tiny as 1/3 her normal width;
· Can slip normal constrains (handcuffs, ropes, shackles etc.) on Agility FEAT roll;
· Uses Agility (in lieu of Strength) to counter Grapple holds. 'Escapes' on Green result; 'Reverses' on Yellow or better;
· Able to fall a distance in stories equal to her Power rank without injury;
· Can glide (as 'Gliding' power) by flattening her body to increase surface area resistance if dropping from heights greater than 8 stories;
· Lands feet-first from any height on a successful Agility FEAT roll
- REGENERATION, EX 16.
· Heals 2 pts Health/round, even mid-combat
- CLAWS, RM 26. Capable of rending up to EX 20 EA damage (can moderate/vary amount)
· Katrina's curved and retractable nails exude a mild neural toxin of FB 2 intensity. Opponents of less than EX Endurance injured by her claws must also pass an Endurance FEAT vs. FB intensity or suffer 1-10 rounds paralysis.
· Bonus: Climbing at Power rank
- RESISTANCE V. MENTAL ATTACKS, IN 36.
· Ever-conflicting personas provide high protection vs. attacks and intrusion of psionic nature
- INFRAVISION, ENHANCED SENSES - HEARING & SMELL, RM 26.
· Infravision at Power rank intensity;
· Sonar at -1CS: gains 3D sense of environment; can locate people/objects
- ALTER EGO: 'Katrina' is the fierce and fearless alter ego of Miriam Myska, a quiet, studious, demure, somewhat insecure and reclusive library assistant. Triggered during her youth to cope with bullying by peers, the prudish Miriam is at least semi-aware of her more flamboyant 'Katrina' split persona, and vice versa. The latter will often surface to momentarily 'interfere' in the former's life, if she feels Miriam is being taken advantage of or just can't handle a given situation.
Whenever Miriam is under duress or in high-stress circumstances, she must make a Psyche FEAT to prevent 'Katrina' from taking control. Suffering physical injury beyond 8 pts will automatically trigger Miriam's alter persona to manifest as well (damage is transferred).
Health: 16 Karma: 34
Powers: None
While there is no gross physical transformation or deformation when 'Katrina' is present aside from more pronounced muscular tautness and definition, there is a definite change in personality and attitude apparent in Kat's decisiveness, bold vernacular, confident body language, and sultry disposition.
'Katrina' will remain as long as necessary until a threat is neutralized or chaotic situation stabilized. Miriam will generally resurface 10-20 minutes after a high-stress circumstance has resolved. In certain situations, Miriam may induce 'Katrina' to emerge; but as she generally detests relinquishing control over to Kat, Miriam suffers a -10 Karma deduction in doing so willfully.
Book Smarts: general RM knowledge covering a broad range of topics; does not necessarily possess the RL practical skills of application ("In theory, it should work this way…")
BACKGROUND
Born in Prague, Czech Republic, Miriam Myska's family relocated to the United States at an early age and she became a naturalized citizen in her teens. Considered a "weird", "awkward" outsider by her peers, Miriam was teased and bullied relentlessly by the popular girl clicks. Her diminutive stature didn't help her cause and she withdrew into books and her studies as a safe haven; yet her fragile psyche could only take so much abuse. An only child whose hard-working parents struggled to make ends meet, Miriam suffered from cultural displacement, prolonged stress, and loneliness until finally her mind fragmented to produce an idealized, fearless, danger-coping persona named, "Katrina." Unfortunately this splintering of personalities occurred simultaneous to Miriam's dormant mutant abilities manifesting, during a life-altering after school altercation.
Miriam made it habit to take a different route to and from school each day, fearing daily verbal and physical abuse by her usual female oppressors. One fateful afternoon, she turned down the wrong street and was spotted by a group of varsity sports girls driving by, one in particular who took pleasure in exerting her alpha-femaleness over Miriam from time to time. On this occasion, the bullying girl exited the car, taunted Miriam and attempted to push her around as she had many times before; but this time 'Katrina' emerged, deftly evaded her and in return, crumpled the assailant by shattering her leg at the knee with a blindingly swift counter kick. The few other girls who dared emerge from the car in shock or anger were in turn crippled in various horrific fashion, while Katrina playfully laughed in amusement, never even bothering to lay down the armful of books she cradled. The driver and a few remaining inside drove away in fear. She was never bothered by those particular girls after the incident, but 'Katrina' has made her presence felt whenever necessary since then, and has been both bane and blessing for Miriam at times.
Miriam tries desperately to keep Kat at bay, but often the stronger of the personalities prevails especially during times of extreme duress or witnessing acts of crime or injustice. Due to this constant internal struggle and her natural quiet and introvert inclinations, Miriam chooses to work in the least exciting, stress-free environment she can think of - the library. She hopes to one day have a career as a researcher; however, her love of reading and thirst for knowledge is ill-received by her often blunt and straight-forward alter persona, Katrina, who believes action always speaks louder than words.
Miriam is currently attending UC Berkeley, and has found friendship and comfort in her bisexual roommate, Harold Perry. He has heard of the steady-growing heroic exploits of a 'young feline avenger' around campus, but is oblivious that she and Miriam are one and the same.
Alright here's my first character: IronWolf.
I found his notes and original write-up. I chose to make him a random mutant and roled max on his Reason, Resources, and number of powers (Resources were then used to purchase as many powers as possible). At the time I wanted to play a "what if Doom was a hero" type character so I went through the Dr. Doom write-up in the Fantastic Four Compendium and rerolled the ranks. I had power slots left over and thought about Wolverine and used the Children of the Atom write-up to add his powers. I'll edit in his background and the templates for the elemental creatures as soon as I have more time to divote to typing.
Vlad has Mystic Origin
Contacts:
Ralpartha Industries (not to be confused with Ral Partha the miniatures company).
Vladamir is the son of an American scientist doing research in the Carpathian Mountains and the Gypsy Warlock she fell in love with.
When Vlad was young his mother was killed in the crossfire of a rival gangs and a territorial dispute.
Vlad went to his father who tried to teach him the ways of magic. Vlad was always more into science than magic. His father got fed up with the way his son seemed to ignore his leasons. Vlad always took shortcuts and so his father sent him to some relatives in the US. His aunt Jenny recognized his budding genius and sent him to Virginia Tech where he realy took to his studies. While at Tech he he fell in love with Monica Silver Lake. In an attempt to impress her he tried to perform a high power summoning spell and mangled it. His injuries were so extensive that he nearly died. Jenny called on some friends at Ralpartha Industries. Ralpartha was able to use expiremental bionic systems (Vlad's Unconcrolled Rages may be a side effect of one or more system) to help repair Vlad and he now is their Lead Developer.
As Ironwolf, Vlad tries to keep the Great Lakes area safe and free of criminals.
Moral of the story: never fall for a gal named Monica Silver Lake. You'll lose your arms showing off for her then she'll break your heart not wanting to be with a stumpy man.
Q: are IW's Reason and Resources reversed? If not, how's that work with all the Hyper-mind stuff if his Reason's already UN? Haven't looked it up in the UPB myself but just curious.
IW's Resources were PR after purchasing a few more power slots. The GD rank was from selling a few inventions .
Hyper-Intelligence has 2 forms. IW has the first. His original Reason and the H-I rank numbers got added together to give him a major boost.
One such rescued man was out for nearly ten days when he rose he thanked Jim and promptly killed him by sucking the life from him. Peter returned with a deer and found his father figure dead. Enraged he found the mans scent and began tracking him for nearly four hundred miles the fifteen year old doggedly followed him. The man left dried out husk of animals and hunters all along the way, each death left Peter more and more hallow feeling but determined to find and end this things existence. he caught up with him in a small village where the thing had killed half the population in only two days. Peter began stalking the thing ,but was in turn stalked by the thing. this game went on for nearly three days, peter got weaker why the thing got stronger. The final show down was in the village square, where the thing had his life sucking hand on an eight year old girls throat. Something snapped in Peter and he charged the thing spearing it in the face and arm he began tearing the thing apart limb by limb. The head was still talking. Thus was white wolf born shredding the entire skull, he then ordered the villagers to build a fire and throw the pieces in. that seemed the end, Peter collapsed from wounds and exhaustion. He awoke with the father of the girl protecting him from the other villagers but told him it was unsafe for him to stay. It was here that he vowed to protect others who could not fight menaces of the supernatural or super powered sort. He was chasing a nasty vampire through new york, he heard the plea for help from the mayor. He arrived at the scene seeing three heroes battling an enlarged Sphinx, he ran up behind the held villain and hamstrung him. The Hero Gilgamesh started issuing commands and the heroes responded with well coordinated hit and run tactics wearing the powerful giant down. A mutant died helping them. All the heroes and new york paid tribute by erecting a statue of the man in front of city hall, no one knew his name it became the unknown hero's tomb. With the unknown mutants death saving New yorkers the general feeling towards mutants was very positive. White wolf was extended an invitation to join the first bonafide super hero team, The Fury Five were born. The Team was chasing The nasty thing White wolf thought he had killed they ended up in trap that flung them into another dimension.
