(VERY loosely based on James F. Cooper's fictional character of the same name - enjoy!)
MAGUA

Real Name: Unknown
Other Alias: "Le Renard Subtil" ("The Wily Fox")

F: Rm(30)
A: In(40)
S: Rm(30)
E: Mn(75)
R: Ty(6)
I: Ex(20)
P: In(40)

Health: 175
Karma: 66

Known Powers

Physical Fortitude:
Dense, battle-hardened skin provides Pr(4) protection against Physical attacks, as well as Rm(30) resistance vs extremes of Heat and Cold

Weather Control: Pr(4)* Magua can affect weather to a limited degree; more with the aid of his enchanted axe, "Ayaghkee" (see below). He has the following established power stunts:

· Create Fog and Rain of power rank intensity;
· Generate winds of power rank intensity;
· Raise or Lower temperatures with power rank intensity;
· Determine weather changes up to 3 days in advance

Tracking & Blending in Outdoor or Wilderness settings with Rm(30)** ability

Animal Empathy: Gd(10). Can detect/influence the surface emotion of the animal involved, instilling fear, hunger, affection, exhaustion or other emotions with a successful FEAT check

Animal transformation - Red Fox: Ex(20). Magua can transform his physical form into that of a sleek red fox while retaining his base RIP (though he cannot speak; his communication limited to the yelps, growls and barks of a common fox). His stats in 'fox' form are:

F: Ty(6) A: Gd(10) S: Ty(6) E: Gd(10) Health: 32

** In fox form Magua gains an additional +1CS to his Tracking & Blending abilities, and can move 3/areas turn. If reduced to zero health in this state he reverts back to human, less all damage taken in fox form. It takes one round to undergo a transformation between forms, after which Magua can remain indefinitely til choosing otherwise, though sleep or unconsciousness will revert him back to human.

Image Disruption: A peculiar anomaly of unknown, mystic origin occurs when attempting to capture Magua's likeness (specifically his portrait and facial features) in that clear details cannot be reproduced, transferred or transmitted by any means of traditional photography, digital video, electronic surveillance etc. Even a series of seated, well-lit, in-studio portraits taken by a professional photographer would only yield images of a seated figure whose face is far too smeared, warped and distorted beyond recognition as to render each photo uniquely different from the next. Video footage yields similar results, only capturing a figure whose face remains obscured as if in a state of ever-present blur.

Unique Weapon

Tomahawk Axe, "Ayaghkee"
(translation, "I go to war")

Great weapon of Magua's Huron ancestors, unknown origin (treat as Unearthly Material Str);

* Amplifies Weather Control by +3CS (max of Amazing);

Inflicts Rm(30) damage on the Edged Atk column, though Magua's mastery with the weapon allows him to inflict up to In(36) Blunt Atk damage using the flat of the head and/or handle butt;

Magua can throw the enchanted Ayaghkee to strike opponents up to 4 areas away, returning at the top of the following round (ala Thor's, "Mjolnir"). In such case, treat as an Edged Thrown attack (cannot reduce effect, Red to Yellow result for ex., but may choose to inflict less damage)

Talents

Weapon Specialist, +2CS using "Ayaghkee"
Martial Arts A, B, D
Tumbling (Agil FEAT to land feet-first if no dmg taken)
Trance
Expert Hunter/Fisherman, Wilderness survival

Background

Little is known of the man known only as "Magua", whose history remains shrouded, even unto himself. About the only thing he knows with innate certainty is that of his Huron descent; his upbringing, parents, possible family, every detail of his past, is otherwise obscured in a fog of complete amnesia.

First record of Magua dates back a few years ago, when he first appeared during the height of winter wandering an icy, lone highway transecting endless miles of forest and lakes, deep in Algonquin territory near the small mining-based community of Val d'Or, Quebec.

His first heroics came instinctively as Magua plunged into icy waters to rescue Chistof Roi, the young, inexperienced driver of a truck hauling mining equipment en route to Val d'Or from Montreal. Roi had lost control of his loaded vehicle which swerved off course and into a near-frozen lake while attempting to avoid hitting the half-clothed pedestrian Magua who had strolled aimlessly onto the middle of the road and caught a half-awake Roi by surprise.

Magua was spotted carrying the body of the unconscious but alive Roi and arranging him seated up against a tree, by a young Algonquin boy walking nearby on his way to school. Also noting the partly-submerged truck and afraid to approach this new stranger in their territory, the boy quickly raced home to tell his father.

Meanwhile, Magua abandoned the driver to continue on his path up the highway, assured that Roi was breathing, seemingly had no major visible injuries, and assuming he would be okay but also perhaps oblivious to the extreme cold due to his own natural resistance; suffice it to say, Roi was found dead from hypothermic exposure a short while after, by the father and uncles of the young boy.

Word of homicide quickly spread through the small native village and made its way to Val d'Or, where Magua had taken up shelter in an old abandoned farm. But his location was soon revealed to local authorities after livestock began to disappear and smoke could be seen coming from the derelict structure.

Unable to apprehend him, Magua somehow managed to elude Val d'Or police and is now wanted in connection to the murder of Christof Roi, though no conclusive evidence of his guilt actually exists. In fact, other than verbal descriptions of the mysterious nomad by random eye witnesses, no actual photo record exists of Magua at all, strangely, even at times when he had stood or crossed in plain sight of convenience store security cameras.

Magua remains a drifter but is keen to modern ways of life on the streets after years on the go. To his misfortune, every time Magua has thought to have finally found a safe settlement, a haven of security, or a group or figure of trust and stability, some horrible incident or altercation always occurs - whether fault of his own or not - forcing him to quickly pack up and move on.

Presently Magua's travels have brought him clear across the continent to the melting pot that is People's Park, in Berkeley, California. Here Magua has found the Bay Area's year-round, moderate climate to his liking, while he also appreciates the freedom of anonymity and acceptance being lost among the many diverse characters who make up the Park's large homeless population. But if he has learned anything about his life and mysterious origin during his travels, Magua knows that contentment and a comfy sanctuary are a temporary respite at best.

I feel bad for Magua. He seems like he would fit in with the Doom Patrol. smiling smiley

I hope he doesn't encounter Hawkeye in his wanderings. That name might trigger some unpleasantness with Magua involved. grinning smiley

I miss Gene.

Doom Patrol, eh? Definite possibility for sure.

I wouldn't feel sorry for him though. He's content with a simple life and for the most part just wants to be left alone, but pretty much accepts that something or someone will eventually come along to ruin his day so basically, he doesn't lose sleep over it. Magua's more than capable of handling average Joe-street-thug and then some and, gifted with energy and relentlessness, he'll wear down all but the meanest super foe. Sure he's got an intentional cliché "shrouded in mystery" origin by design, but frankly imo? that's what made Wolverine the coolest of the cool; he'll always be just "Logan" to me.

Took me a sec to catch the Hawkeye connection grinning smiley I honestly didn't even think about that but yeah, that potentially could get messy... especially if Storm aka Ororo Munroe is around and mistaken for an enemy Colonel's daughter lol

A VERY cool character. His powers and skill set would make for some interesting storylines outside of the standard beat somebody up routine. Thanks Relicthumbs up

you bet! winking smiley i'm thinking of trying him out in my current campaign as an assist NPC since the players and tough of 'brain' but could use a wee bit o' help in the 'brawn' dept... especially with what i've got planned for them on the horizon *bwahahahah!*
