(Created a random using UPB who just kind of took on 'life' of her own - enjoy!)

KAELA
Real Name: Kaela
Other Aliases: Kaela Franklin, Shocktress (stage name)

Physical Form: Surgical Composite
Origin of Power: Creation of Dr. Seth Frankel (Deceased)

Height: 5'10" Weight: 160 lbs.
Actual/Apparent Age: Unknown (early/mid 20s)

Fighting: Typical (6)
Agility: Good (10) / Incredible(40)*
Strength: Remarkable (30)
Endurance: Typical (6) / Incredible(40)*
Reason: Poor (4)
Intuition: Excellent (20)
Psyche: Poor(4)

Health: 52 / 116**
Karma: 28

Resources: Fb(2)
Popularity: -5

Powers

Hyper-Running: Incredible (40)

· * Agility & Endurance boost to power rank level for duration (** benefits from +64 temp Health addition);
· Land Speed up to 7 areas/round (105 mph) for 40 turns max (4 minutes) before first Endurance FEAT check (pg 23 PB );
· Established power stunt: stationary Idle at Typical speed (45 mph) while retaining bonuses;
· Reverts to normal/base stats 2-20 turns after ending power (or Speed < Typical);
· Cool-down period 1-10 turns between uses, -1CS to all FEATS checks til expiration

While this power is activated, a powerful surge of electro-chemical adrenaline is released throughout Kaela's bio system which effectively raises her Agility & Endurance to power rank level for the duration of use. In addition she benefits added Health equal to the difference in total rank points gained (currently +64 pts). Any damage suffered "pre-surge" is automatically healed; subsequent damage is taken from the bonus first, before affecting her base Health.

The effects from this adrenal boost are temporary, lasting an additional 2-20 turns after Kaela ceases Hyper-Running, whereupon her bonuses to abilities and health dissipate and stats revert to normal (unless damage taken during the adrenal surge reduced her Health lower than 52, in which case that number would apply).

After the adrenal surge effects wear off, all stats returned to normal, Kaela must recuperate a minimum 1-10 turns before she can attempt to activate the power again, due to the taxing toll Hyper-Run takes on her system and for her adrenal reserves to replenish. During this "cool down" period she can still perform other actions, but all her FEAT checks suffer a -1CS for the duration.

Kaela has developed the power stunt of dropping to Typical "Idling" speed, running in place, yet retaining her bonuses. However, movement rates of less than Typical rank speed at any time during Hyper-Run effectively cancels it, in which case her adrenal bonuses wear out as normal (2-20 turns) and she is subject to the required cool down

Electrical Generation: Amazing (50) - contact only -

· Inflict up to power rank intensity Electrical damage on contact

Specially modified organs implanted in Kaela's body are capable of generating pulses of powerful electric current similar to that of an electric eel, only far more lethal. She can discharge this energy through contact with any part of her body at up to Amazing intensity. In turn, she is naturally resistant against Electrical damage at power rank level (no FEAT req'd against her own power).

Lung Adaptability: Incredible (40)

· Gains immunity to gases and liquids for purposes of breathing;
· No senses of taste or smell

Kaela is able to breathe any gaseous or liquid medium without harm i.e., she becomes immune to all forms of weaponized gases and cannot drown on a successful FEAT check. One drawback of this power is that she has no taste bud receptors or olfactory senses so everything she eats is bland, and she is generally unaware of smoke or gases to begin with unless they are clearly visible.

Self-Revival: Amazing (50)

· Regenerates Health at rate of 5 pts/round;
· Can reattach limbs or re-grow them if not available

Kaela possesses Amazing-ranked Self-Revival, the phenomenal ability to repair even from fatal damage and thus return to life, provided a minimum of one-quarter of her original body is available. This total regeneration and repair of major damage and lost tissue takes place at a rate of 5 points per turn with uninterrupted rest. If dismembered, the Self-Revival process centers around the largest remaining portion, with smaller separated pieces animating in an attempt to return (rolling head or crawling lost limbs for example). Kaela cannot control these parts; they survive and operate instinctively for a limited duration, like the distractive tail of a lizard detached to aid its escape. If the severed part cannot return to reattach before its respective replacement is re-created, the stray member rapidly decomposes into an ash-like dust within a few rounds.

Weaknesses

Kaela is severely affected by her own reflection in a crippling and debilitating way, not due to hideousness or repulsion of her features, but to an immediate flash flood bombardment of memories and emotions from the murdered women whose body parts compose her. Whenever she crosses and views her reflection for more than a few seconds (in a mirror, on the surface of calm water, from a shiny glass window etc), she must make a Psyche FEAT at -2CS or lapse into an overwhelmed, incapacitated state; she may be conscious or comatose (50/50 chance of either) for a duration of 1 -100 turns. If conscious she will be uncommunicative, appear confused, disoriented and somewhat paranoid or fearful though not violent, unless aggressively provoked.

After the duration of incapacitation expires, Kaela will gradually regain her faculties within 1-10 turns and has a 2% chance to recall some of the visions which, if successful, is limited to short but specific glimpses into one of the victim's previous life or the event of their murder. Most times, however, Kaela will only remember the vague moments just before she viewed her reflection.

By nature of her surgical composite construction, Kaela's fragile Psyche leaves her particularly vulnerable to Mental Domination, suffering a -1CS vs. resisting this form of attack.

Appearance

Kaela's appearance is that of a fit, attractive, mid-twenties woman, reddish/brown-haired with distinct, large grey/green eyes and european features (more "Franka Potente" than "Claudia Schiffer"). Casual observation may spot subtle (and not-so-subte) non-uniformity in skin tone when comparing arms to torso to head and neck to legs, as she is a composite of several women. Further inspection would clearly reveal the permanent scars and stitch markings left during the process of her "creation."

Background: Rise & Fall of Dr. Seth Frankel

The young woman known as "Kaela" is the sole-surviving creation of brilliant yet narcissistic scientist, Doctor Seth Frankel. Once a leading authority and specialist in the field of regenerative liver research and applications, Dr. Frankel's all-consuming drive for his "3 Ps" - prestige, power and perfection - eventually and ironically lead to his discredit and eventual ostracism from the field as his research and experiments grew increasingly questionable, aggressive, unethical and dangerous, but "in the name of science" as he put it.

Ultimately humiliated and permanently banned from medical practice, Frankel fled to the outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada where he obtained falsified credentials, grew some facial hair, and opened up a clinic under the name, "Dr. Samuel Franklin", where he took up practice treating mainly prostitutes, call girls, drug addicts and both locals and non-locals looking for "discrete" treatments. As "Dr. Franklin", Frankel manipulated insurance billing claims and soon funded the creation of a restricted laboratory/small living space just above the clinic and slowly furnished it, passing it off as just a "storage room" to which he had the only access.

Frankel's intellectual brilliance could only be matched by his deep-seated thirst for vengeance against those he felt responsible for his downfall. And as time went by in his mediocre existence as "Dr. Franklin", he became consumed by his dark thoughts, replacing any last bits of reason, morality or sense of ethics. He began to concoct a devious plan.

He knew for fact that many of his former colleagues and other prominent figures frequented the many Gentlemen's clubs and highly-paid escort services the city was notorious for, while on "business" trips behind the back's of unsuspecting wives and families. Frankel's plan was simple: he would create the "ultimate escort" - an irresistible assassin, a wolf in sheep's clothing, which he would control to do his bidding to ruin and/or murder each and every last person that had crossed him.

Over the next months the insane but calculated doctor carefully chose, drugged and murdered five particular women, clients of his practice whom he felt optimally "expendable to society" but possessed some exceptional attribute he sought like a strong core torso, or healthy organs, or sturdy legs and sculpted arms, or an impressionable and malleable mind, and of course an attractive face which he would slightly modify to erase any trace of former identity. Working from these base pieces Frankel poured into his every bit of extensive scientific knowledge and from this abominable compilation, this melange of madness, "Kaela" was born.

Kaela's World

Frankel could not have been more proud of this, his finest creation and greatest achievement. Remarkably, though he calculated her mind to be completely wiped empty by the process, his creation instantly spoke her first word - "why" - and in several languages upon waking, which he could only deduce to be remnants of the previous women's collective conscience. Thankfully for Frankel his new creation could recall nothing more and, naming her "Kaela", he quickly convinced and manipulated her reality making her believe she was safest under his care.

Frankel did some early tests on Kaela, whose healing factor surpassed even his wildest imagination. Incisions, though still painful to her, would close and heal before his eyes. While drugged and unconscious, he would amputate her foot or hand… only to watch in near-disbelief as it rapidly reattached. Kaela's physical strength was enough to pulverize a brick as easily as he crumpled paper, or twist metal construction rods to look like pretzels, much to their mutual delight; surely crushing the life from a man's windpipe would be an easy task.

Over the next few weeks more experiments and tests continued and Kaela was forbidden to leave the "safety" of the makeshift lab/apartment above his clinic. To pass the time whenever he was away Frankel left Kaela with out-dated books and magazine articles written by or about him during the height of his successes, which further added to her admiration and fascination for the great and accomplished man she felt privileged to be staying with.

He began to paint a distorted picture to her of "bad men" who existed in the world, those who had wronged him, those that needed to be punished without mercy, and Kaela drank up his every venomous lie, believing in his cause and words as whole-heartedly as gospel. He informed her what she must do to these men, a role she willingly accepted with full conviction while Frankel secretly bubbled with inner satisfaction.

But the meglomaniac made one critical and fatal error - one day while looking at the beautiful "specimen" who stared back at him with complete worship and adoration in her eyes, Frankel was moved by a different, more primal urge… he decided Kaela would not only be his right-hand of vengeance and personal executioner; later that night, he would make her his lover.

A Monster No More

Frankel departed but returned shortly with some items, prepared a fine dinner, then began to wine and dine her. He set the mood with dimmed lights, soft music and candles a plenty, and Kaela was ecstatic when he surprised her with a nicely wrapped present which contained beautiful lingerie. His jaw dropped as she jumped up and immediately began undressing to try on the gift, with an appreciative wide smile and eyes that begged his approval. Lost in carnal thoughts and anticipation, Frankel grinned wickedly then unsuspectingly removed the plastic bag off a small, decorative wall mirror he had also purchased that afternoon, which he steadily held out before Kaela so she too could view the incredible sight he marveled at.

Instantly her expression shifted, from bliss to horror.

Kaela staggered momentarily then toppled backwards and crashed to the floor unable to recognize the tormented, shifting faces that gazed back at her. Her mind was overloaded by the memories and emotions of the murdered victims she was "built" from. The only world Kaela had ever known was suddenly and violently torn asunder by a cold, dark and terrible truth. Then everything went black.

Frankel too was caught by surprise and rushed to her side; but after assuring himself that Kaela's vitals signs were elevated but otherwise normal, his corrupt desires again seized him. Deciding he would still have his way, he drank heavily then carried Kaela over to a nearby couch and began to under dress. Overly intoxicated, he clumsily plopped on top of her jarring her awake, which would be the last mistake he ever made.

Kaela was frozen in shock at first, as Frankel began to grope her and kiss her neck. But the fading visions that were jarred free after seeing her own reflection had exposed her "protector's" dark tale - this man had deceived her, manipulated her, had every intent to take advantage of and abuse her. But above all, she knew this man to be a murderer of innocents, and her eyes sizzled angrily with electric power.

Frankel's eyes widened in sheer terror and in an instant, white bolts of electricity blasted the soft orbs out of their sockets and splattered their contents in every direction while lightning leapt up and down across his upper and lower teeth and shot wisps from his mouth. His tongue crackled, bubbled and smoked as did the rest of his body which quivered violently and uncontrollably and the soles of his bare feet blew clean off to stick like wet paper towels thrown at the back wall mixed with thick, half-cooked blood paste. Justice had been served.

Frankel was a near charcoal black by the time a terror-stricken Kaela managed to force his lifeless, charred husk off her, which crashed with a thud against a table and knocked over several candles. A fire soon ignited and a panicked Kaela did the only thing she could: she dressed quickly, fled the building and felt the sharp nip of cold Nevada night air for first time in her short life, then she ran. Not knowing where, she just ran, even catching and surpassing a few cars headed in the same direction.

New Beginning

Since Frankel's practice was set up nearer the outskirts of town and it had been a particularly traffic-congested night combined with some road closures and detours, by the time local Fire Departments had reached Frankel's lab/clinic, it had blown into a raging inferno and had already collapsed under its own weight. Later arson investigators attributed the uncontrollable blaze to highly flammable agents as well as traces of "unidentified chemicals", though the damage was so extensive and chemical fire so intense, they were unable to recover any remains or clues as to what exactly took place there.

Kaela's current whereabouts remain unknown at this time.

I like her.
Interesting how she will get by. Though in Vegas if she remains a dancer, she can find a niche. If she can get hired at a casino or resort, she can act as an language specialist.
I can see possible power stunts she could develope.

And definitely she in a town where her weakness can be exploited!

Yeah, I didn't think of that. How does she work as an exotic dancer without seeing herself in the mirror constantly? I guess she just focuses on the customers. smiling smiley

Appreciate the comments guys! Yeah I liked her origin, weird stats and combo of powers enough that her background story just started to form and I needed to jot it all down... as for dancing? Never really said she was one (though it's implied with an alias I guess, huh? D'oh!) Actually there was like one paragraph more about her briefly joining with some Madame, working as a dancer to make ends meet but leaving after the madame insists she elevate her 'activities' with patrons, and the whole place burning down shortly afterwards under 'mysterious circumstances'... but i nixed it lol

Hahah not sure about a movie but am mulling over trying a possible collaborative graphic novel w/a buddy of mine. If so, we'll work out the dancing+mirrors thing and it won't be something lame like her having to wear horseblinders lol. Anyway...

Or she could wear a mask that blinds/conceals her eyes..It would be a gimmick that could fill some niches and might draw in resources/fans

Hmm not bad, and I'm sure she'd find a niche. Kaela needs to develop some Daredevilesque Radar Sense somehow to get by without her eyesight... maybe a pact with Mephisto that also erases her every memory of Dr. Frankel and the women she's constructed of? or has something like that been done? winking smiley

Congrats on 1000+ posts btw smileys with beer

Or she could just use the Dancing/Performer Talent, amd using a fairly small stage with most of her
performance having one hand one/near the pole. (Knew a performer who was legally blind for a while,
and that is how she compensated for her lack of sight) That way no deal with the devil needed and her
weakness can stay intact.

And thanks for pointing out the 1000+posts. (Honestly I never noticed LOL) Wonder how many I would
have totallled in all of my incarnations here (Gene->Your Humble Servant->Gene)

Yeah, I think I like Kaela just the way she is, imperfections and all. Also it's possible she doesn't even follow a particular religion or belief system, so maybe there's no Mephisto to deal with in the first place winking smiley

That is interesting (and cool) about your performer friend overcoming her limitations. I've known a gal with similar near legally-blindness who fairly recently (past year or so) got absolutely hooked on pole dancing, which has developed into quite the physically demanding yet elegant art form (as opposed to the typical undulating gutter-minded form most guys (myself included) tend to initially think of when "pole dancers" are mentioned.

no prob! it's quite the milestone. Though I think only the Watcher knows your cumulative total. I've only one incarnation so far and pretty sure it'll keep... unless one day I wake up and suddenly, impulsively feel it's time for some overhaulin'!
