Known Powers:
Kryptonian Physiology: Due to Kal-El's Kryptonian nature here is able to convert a yellow suns' energy and enhance his own form. In addition Galactus has greatly enhanced him with his own technology and endowed him with a miniscule amount of his own his own cosmic energies as well. This makes Kal-El more powerful than any Kryptonian could ever become under ideal situations. Because of all this Kal-El enjoys the following:

- Invulnerabilities: Cl 1000
-- Heat/Fire: Cl 1000

-- True Invulnerability: Sh X 150 Damage dealt to Kal-El is at -11cs. this protection covers physical and energy damages.

-- Space Flight: Sh Z 500 20,000 areas/rd or 300,000 MPH while in space. Note Kal-El may fly this fast in an atmosphere but will do Sh Z damage to
everything in his flight path. This does not include shock waves and other damage from him quickly vaporizing vast amounts of matter and changing the atmosphere around him into a highly charged plasma field. The total devastation should be held down to
less than a 10 mile radius enveloping his flight path. Karma loss ???
-- Gateway: Cl 5000 When traveling vast distances Kal-El doesn't fly he creates wormholes. He has also shown the ability to enter "Hyper-Space". Kal-
El may teleport himself to just about any where in the known universe.
-- Heat Vision: Sh Z 500 Range is Line of sight, the curvature of the Earth would limit this to about 26 miles.
-- Hyper Speed: Sh Z 500 Kal-El may perform the following power stunts:
--- Substitute for F: For multiple attacks and evading. May make up to 5 combat actions per round.
--- Substitute for A: For dodging and catching projectiles.
--- Substitute for I: For initiative.
- Hyper Breath: Sh X 250 When in a planets atmosphere Kal-El may inhale all the air within 500', this translates into 392,500,000 cu. ft of air. It produces Un
100 winds as air races back into the void. Kal-El may hold this air indefinitely. Upon releasing this super condensed gas it produces
Un 100 Fo and drops the temperature to near absolute 0º K. Doing Un 100 cold damage the following round. The cold lessens at a
rate of -1cs/rd. again damaging all within it each round until the cold drops to Sh 0. (E: FEAT to resist cold damage each round).
The area of effect is a 40 area long 1 area wide line from Kal-El.

Superhuman Senses: Superman has the following heightened senses as shown below:
- Enhanced Hearing: Sh X 150 Kal-El may focus his hearing to such a degree as to hear sounds more than 150 miles away. This is a concisely controled power.
- Microscopic Vision: Sh Y 250 Kal-El can see an object as small as an electron.
- Telescopic Vision: Am 50 Kal-El may see objects up to 25 million miles away with absolute clarity. He may use his other sight based powers in conjunction
with this to an astonishing degree. This is a concisely controled power.
- X-Ray Vision: Sh Z 500 Kal-El can see through up to 500' of material. He can also see through lead.
- Enhanced Taste: Un 100 Kal-El is able to tell an objects elemental, molecular structure and energy potential by taste. He does not regularly display this
power.
Solar Absorption: CL3000 Kal-El is able to absorb massive amounts of a specific type of star's energy this enhances him far beyond a normal kryptonian.
Unfortunately for him the specific star type is rare. His spacecraft "The Fortress of Solitude" mimics this stars radiation as well as
his armor that he wears when on missions for Galactus. (Both are discussed in Equipment section.)
-Recovery: Sh Z 500 Kal-El's body continues absorbing solar radiation even after death. This energy may eventually return him to life making it virtually
impossible to kill him.

The Power Cosmic: Yes Kal-El is even more powerful than the above mentioned powers. He also has full access to cosmic powers. He has total control over his powers and has displayed the following abilities.:

Cosmic Power : Ability to detect, channel and manipulate cosmic energy with Un ability and line-of-sight range (See Telescopic Vision.). Kal-El is able to produce up to 1 effect per round using his Power Cosmic however he may maintain up to five actions with minimal concentration. Kal-El has develeped the following power stunts:

- Power Blasts: Sh X 250 Fo This is a straight Fo attack.
- Energy Blasts: Sh X 250 En This can be of any energy type Kal-El decides upon including radiation, light, heat, fire, sonic or electrical.
- Energy Detection: Un 100 Range is limited only by how far he can see.
-- Energy Empathy: Am 50 Range is .5 light years. This is not as accurate as his detection power as he only has a gut feeling about an energy
but is not able to describe it with any detail.
- Energy Conversion: Un 100 Kal-El may change any energy into another of equal intensity.
- Res. vs. Mental: Un 100 Kal-El found that for all his physical power he was still prone to mental attacks. Through his clever use of energy
manipulations he can render himself immune from all but the most powerful psionic attacks.
- Healing: Un 100 Kal-El may heal himself or another organic being up to 100 pts./rd damage.
- Curative Ability: Un 100 Kal-El may cure others of poisons and diseases with power rank intensity. He has never had cause to use this ability
on himself.
- Restore Life: Mn 75 Kal-El may restore life to a creature that has died within 10 hours. The body needs to be mostly intact with no major
limb loss. He can bring back a creature only to have it die of its wounds again if he choses not to heal the body before
restoring life.
- Stat Boost: Un 100 Kal-El may raise any one of his or another's stats up to Un 100 for 1-10 rds.
- True Flight: CL5000 If deprived of his natural powers Kal-El is able to rely on his cosmic powers. Sh-Z airspeed in atmosphere
- Dimension Rifts: Un 100 Kal-El can open dimensional rifts, allowing dimensional travel.
- Phasing: Un 100 This power is used to enable him to pass through a barrier or to travel through space without risking collision damage
with spaceborne particles.
- Electro-Magnetic Manipulation: Un 100 Kal-El is able to emit and control the energies that make up the Universal Electro-Magnetic Spectrum. These types
include (in order of increasing frequency and decreasing wavelength):

Kal-El is able to alter the wavelength of any of these to create a multitude of effects. He can jam all communications on a planet within a 10 mile radius if so inclined. He can become invisible. Disable all mechanical devices with in range. Converse on a global scale by highjacking satellite feeds. Heat objects up, pop his own popcorn!!! Make all solids transparent. The possibilities are really unlimited.

- Space Manipulation: Mn 75 Kal-El is able to warp the fabric of space itself. He is able to warp, shrink or expand space. He has developed the
following power stunts:
-- Banishment: Mn 75 Target is teleported 250,000,000 miles away. (Target may make a Control or A: FEAT to avoid effects). To give you
an idea how far this is; between Mars and Jupiter is an asteroid belt that's how far he can warp someone from Earth.
-- Repell: Mn 75 Target is never able to come closer than 40 areas towards Kal-El. No matter how hard they try or how fast they fly
they are not able to reach Kal-El.
-- Nemesis Portals: Mn 75 Kal-El can open portals that terminate on the surface of a star, next to a pulsar or within the vacuum of space. Altho
these portals are open briefly they can release a tremendous amount of damage to a target standing next to one.
The damage type can be of just about any nature (He could open a Nemesis Portal at the bottom of an ocean with
high pressure water being expelled out the other side.) Whatever the attack type the damage is limited to the power
rank.
-- Collision Portal: Mn 75 By opening two portals one expelling the target into the other and drawing them closer together he can literally make
a target smack into itself.
-- Shift: Mn 75 On a successful A: FEAT Kal-El may direct any incoming attack onto another target or the original attacker.
- Gravity Manipulation: Un 100 Kal-El may completely alter, create or negate gravitational fields to suit his goals.
-- Weightless: Un 100 Reduce the weight of an object by 100 tons. If a target is reduced to 0 lbs. gravity losses its hold. A target on a planet
will be launched off the planet at power rank speed.
-- Collapse: Un 100 Increase a targets weight by 100 tons. This will kill a normal person. By focusing this power on a single point
structures and objects can be completely destroyed.
-- @#$*^%!!!: Un 100 Kal-El can make each and every single area within a 10 mile radius have its' own intensity and pull of gravity. (Up
can be any direction as well as how strong it pulls). This makes most physical missile attacks out of a single area
range completely useless.
- Matter Manipulation: Un 100 Range is 10 miles. Any object of under Un 100 Mat. Str. can be shaped and or altered to the whim of Kal-El. He is
also able to change elemental and molecular structuring to create alloys and compounds if he is inclined.
- Self-Sustenance: Sh Z 500 Doesn't need to eat, sleep or breathe. Can survive the vacuum of outer space. Kal-El finds the idea of eating a once
living creature revolting. He has been known to sample non-organic materials and has a fondness for some types of
salts. Although Kal-El doesn't require sleep he does enjoy meditations when time permits.
- Life Detection: Cl 1000 Range is 5 light years.

Equipment:

Universal Translator: Before making his presence known on a world Kal-El will monitor it and determine its customs and language structure.
- Linguistics: Un 100 This is an ear piece and throat mic that allow communication with a culture if they have no technological means. Otherwise Kal-El will
frequently just override a planets communication system in order to communicate with the population.

No Kal-El doesn't need a weapon. No it doesn't make him any more effective in combat. However Kal-El prefers using his halberd in physical combat over actually touching an opponent. He can channel his cosmic powers through it and control it's movements. He can teleport it in and out of combat if needed.

Description: Kal-El's halberd is a gift to him from Galactus. Its original purpose was to aid Kal-El in channeling his cosmic powers but he has long ago overcome this need. He now wields it as a symbol of pride in being Galactus' Herald.


Armor:
Power Suit: Un 100 This suit constantly bombards the wearer with solar radiation of a particular type. It is made of an Un 100 Mat. Str. It does Un 100 energy
damage to the wearer each round. Kal-El's unique physiology converts this energy and enhances his Kryptonian body. Any attack that
breaches this suit reduces its effectiveness by -1cs per attack. However energy "bleeds" out of the suit at the attack points doing Mn 75 energy
to all within the same area as Kal-El. After three successful attacks the suit will cease to function unless Kal-El spends a round to consciously
repair the armor. This armor covers his entire body except from the neck up. It is very flexible and its intent is not for protection however and
only offers its wearer Gd 10 protection.

Description: From the collar bone down Kal-El is covered by a thin malleable armor. (He looks like the Silver Surfer had his head replaced by Superman with the trademark "S" design on his chest. Sorry no cape.)

- Plasma Generators: Sh Y 250 En attack. In space range is LOS. Into an atmosphere it is only 4 miles.
- Ionic Disrupters: Sh Y 250 En attack. Same range as Plasma. Mechanical / Electrical systems require an E: FEAT or equivalent vs. Sh Y or are disabled.
- E.M.P. Dischargers: Un 100 Range is an 8 mile diameter sphere around ship. With same effect on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Molecular Destabilizer: Cl 1000 This is the most feared of the ships weapons. On a successful hit it converts all matter within a 73' globe to be reduced to its
basic elemental compositions. It would turn a human into carbon, oxygen etc. This will destroy Cl 1000 material strength items.
To characters hit by it it merely does 1000 points of damage. If reduced to 0 they are considered to have been reduced to their
basic elemental composition. Only one shot per 38 minutes may be safely made with this weapon as it uses considerable power. - Drones: If necessary the ship may deploy and control up to ten drones. These are 10' humanoid robots with the following capabilities:

suddenly have their speed reduced take power rank damage as well as their passengers. Self propelled creatures also suffer
damage as if crashing into a Un Mat. Str. object at whatever speed they were traveling.
- Plasma Field: Sh X 150 This plasma field extends out past the Kinetic Field Damper anywhere from 70' to 500' depending on tactical needs. It provides
protection only against energy attacks.
- Force Field: Sh X 150 The Fortress of Solitude may project a force field to protect one of its hemispheres.
- Inertia Dampeners: Un 100 Exterior forces have little effect on those within the vessel. No accelerations or change in direction are noticeable from within the
sphere.
- Micro-Enviroments: Un 100 Should Kal-El have guests each can move about in their own micro-enviroment without causing harm to another guest.

Other:
- Power Mimicry: While Kal-El occupies the ship he may endow the vessel with the ability to duplicate his powers.
- Energy Source: Cl 1000 At the center of the vessel is a meditation chamber that is capable of bombarding Kal-El with a unique form of solar radiation.
Anyone who enters the chamber unshielded receives 1000 points of damage as if they were standing on the surface of a sun.
- Computer Data Base: Sh Z Kal-El has literally thousands of alien technologies and cultures stored within a closed system computer on board his ship. Not
only does it provide him with a wealth of knowledge the A.I. is able to actually provide advice and assistance to Kal-El when
needed. In game terms Kal-El may use his computer system to train himself in just about any talent or have the computer offer
step by step instructions on how to manufacture different items if Kal-El has need for them. Kal-El may access this computer
system from up to 1/2 a light year away. The computer only recognizes Kal-El as an authorized user. It has a Sh Z encryption.

Description: Kal-El doesn't merely rely on his own vast powers to search the cosmos for planets suitable to his masters needs. He travels in a ship of his own devise which Galactus himself helped to construct. Kal-El calls this his "Fortress of Solitude". It measures approximately 800 meters across (Almost 20 areas in game terms.) It has no visible propulsion or any distinguishing characteristics on its out side. It appears to be a smooth,solid, highly polished silver sphere with no means to enter it.
Contained within his ship is all that remains of his native home world. He has in his possession several crystal that contain recorded messages from his parents as well as a vast amount of knowledge from Krypton. Kal-El also has some passengers on his ship from worlds he has visited and Galactus most likely destroyed. While on his vessel his guests are guaranteed his protection coming only second to the needs of Galactus. Kal-El tries to gather the collective knowledge of any world he visits so that at a later time he may learn from a world now most likely lost.

Limitations:
Kryptonite: Kal-El is vulnerable to Kryptonite if he is exposed to it his powers drop by -1cs per round as does his S:, and E: if his endurance reaches Sh 0 he will die.
This is great news for the denizens of this universe. Unfortunately Galactus obtained Kal-El from another dimension. This dimension does not have
Kryptonite. It would prove useless against him at any rate because he could simply convert it with his cosmic power into another non lethal form.

Psychological: Kal-El has an aversion to foods. This includes living creatures (with the intent to consume), raw or processed foods. Kal-El must pass a P: FEAT to be
around a sentient who is in the process of consuming organic matter. A white results in him needing to leave the immediate area and suffer a -1cs to all
FEATs afterwards for 1-100 rds. If Kal-El is prepared or has prior knowledge that he may be exposed to such a condition he will frequently turn all
organic consumables in his immediate area into material unfit for consumption. He is not effected by watching animals eat only intelligent creatures.
He has asked his guest aboard ship not to eat around him. Against a constant violator he has been known to turn the food they are eating into the
excrement that it will later become while the person is eating it.
Chewing gum disgusts Kal-El more than his aversion for food. Humans chew for no nutritional gain.

Power Dependent: Kal-El Kryptonian physiology requires a unique form of soar radiation. If deprived of it for a long enough time his "natural' powers will decline.
Kal-El is also indebted to Galactus for his cosmic powers. At any time Galactus can recall this power.

Psychological: Sense of duty. Kal-El is indebted to Galactus. He will not betray his closest friend.

Sense of a higher calling. Kal-El is the sole survivor of his world and perhaps dimension. Galactus is also a sole survivor of his universe. Kal-El believes
that some greater force in the multi-verse has brought him and Galactus together. He believes that even though Galactus is far more powerful than
himself Galactus in the end is the weaker of this pair. Galactus requires a lot of energy, he is constantly hungry and in search of sustanance. If Galactus
is deprived long enough he will die. Galactus is always concerned with where his next meal will come from. This wastes a lot of time in which Galactus
could be doing more productive and enjoyable things. Kal-El however has never felt hungry, will never be hungry and can not die of hunger. He believes
that Galactus can be cured of this terrible curse if enough research is done. To this end Kal-El spends his free time pursuing this goal.

Sense of fairness. Kal-El will enter into "fair" combat he will meet an attacker with as much force as they display. He takes no joy in killing and avoids
this as much as possible.


History and an explanation of why someone would do this to follow.

This seems like an exercise in overpowerment, as most stat sets for Superman were already sufficient for Herald work in the first place. There's no need for Galactus to really empower him much farther, simple set him on the job.

Oh I totally agree. I had a GM that wanted the players to come up with some really over the top characters. (Always be fearful when a GM asks you to make purposefully Demi-god characters. ) His only rules were a what if scenario where we had to make plausible back history to the characters. (I'm still retyping this one and will post when I get done. ) Anyway we all submitted are new characters and our original heroes wound up having to battle one at a time our god like characters in a weird nexus point in the multiverse. (I warned you about those GMs. ) And no our heroes did not fair well. (Evil GMs. )

Marvel and DC have actually done that btw, in a glossy giant-sized Superman/FF crossover. For which there are valid reasons on Galactus' part for granting the power cosmic even to the likes of Superman, not the least of which being to make him able to locate habitable world to feed upon and because a weak herald provides little use to him so he'd want to augment him sufficiently to be able to deal with the 'little' problems that come along. No such thing as overkill in that regard.

History:
Long ago on a distant world a lone scientist is convinced that his world is in peril. He makes numerous attempts to convince the people of his planet of its impeding doom. The people of his world reject his findings until it is to late...

In an other dimension a creature of immense power and an insatiable hunger battles a group of sentient humanoids defending their home world. Their last great effort is to banish this galactic threat to another dimension. Using their own stars energy to power this device ensures their own destruction but saves the universe.

Galactus is weakened from his battle and finds he is somewhere knew even to him. He desperately needs to feed he has never felt this weak before. He scans the immediate end of the galaxy he is currently inhabiting and discovers a world that is on the brink of releasing its energy. He will not even need to cause the destruction of this world. All he needs is to get their in time to feed off the energies being released by its destruction.

Galactus makes it just in time. By his calculations the planet will not make another revolution before its destruction. Galactus however is hungry he needs to feed now even if just a little of the planet. Galactus makes his desent on the world. The denizens of this world flee in terror by his arrival. They are inconsequential to him he needs to feed now. Galactus begins to set up a small system which will give him sustenance now it is very wasteful but he immediately benefits from the device.

A lone man walks to the monster which has arrived to his planet. The gigantic creature is obviously imbuing itself with energy from the planet. Imay be this creature may be able to save his homeworld.

Jor-El: "Can you understand me"?

Galactus: "Yes".

Jor-El: "This world is dying".

Long pause....

Jor-El: "Are you trying to save my world"?

Galactus: "No".

Jor-El: "But you are absorbing the thermal energy directly out of the ground. This may be enough to save this world. Are you saying that you are absorbing the
energy but have no intent of saving Krypton? I don't understand please explain."

Galactus: "I HUNGER"!!! "YOUR WORLD IS NO MORE, IT MATTERS NOT IF I FEED OFF IT OR NOT YOUR WORLD IS AT AN END!!! IN LESS THAN ONE
EIGTH A REVOLUTION YOUR PLANET WILL EXPLODE!!! I WILL FEED UNTIL ONE FIFTH OF THE TOTAL CYCLE IS COMPLETED. THEN I WILL
ENTER ORBIT AND ABSORB THE ENERGY DIRECTLY" "Go little Kryptonian, make peace with whatever you worship. My time here is precious and I
have much to do before I return to where I came from".

Jor-El left the creature and returned home. He didn't hate it for what it was doing. His planet was at an end. Maybe this was a the Universes way of making sure it would end. He had intended to send his son off to a distant world. There was a good chance his son would never make it. Maybe another possibility existed. He explained to his wife that no matter what they did Krypton was doomed. He then told hr of his new plan. With very little options she agreed Kal-El had a better chance of surviving under the creatures care than blasting him off to an unknown world that he may never reach. All they needed now was the creature to agree. Maybe they could save themselves and Kal-El, maybe the creature would take some Kryptonians to this new world.

Jor-El approched the creature again. The creature looked upon him with a cold stare.

Jor-El: "May I ask what is your name... if you have one"?

Galactus: "I am called Galactus"

Jor-El: "I am called Jor-El" ... "Galactus I wish to know more of you".

Galactus: "This conversation is pointless. You shall perish in less than a cycle of your world. How could this information be of use to you".

Jor-El: "Galactus, I am a man of science. To be certain you bring more wonder to my life than I could ever dreamt possible. I may seem small and insignificant to
you, but I ask you to humor me in these last moments of my life. As you say it may not benefit me but what harm does it bring you".

Galactus conceded this point and was amused. For untold millennia creatures much greater than this Kryptonian had met him with weapons of varying degrees of
insignificance. Now this little man was using words as his weapons. Jor-El was using one of the most powerful weapon in the universe.
Galactus continued feeding of Krypton and cotinued talking with this "Jor-El". The world was in so much chaos that the expected worlds military never even showed up to end their conversation. It was getting close for Galactus to leave and he told Jor-El this.

Jor-El: "Galactus thank you for your time with me".

Galactus: "I have been to many worlds Jor-El. I have met many races. They have met me with all imaginable resistances and have failed. You have successfully
used your weapon. What is it you really want of me? To be off this world? Yes I am very weak at this moment but I could imbue you with a small fraction
of what remains to bring you with me, but it could only be you I am weaker now than I can ever recall. So if you ask it I can grant you this".

Jor-El: "You are a wise one Galactus. I had in fact hoped you could take me and my family off this planet. However I will have you know that my life ends on this
planet and you have answered some of the greatest mysteries the universe holds. I thank you Galactus. If it is capable for you to take one creature from this
planet I ask you take my son".

Galactus: "Bring him to me".

Jor-El quickly summoned Lara and brought forth Kal-El. Galactus was shocked at what was brought forth ... an infant. What was he going to do with this miniature non sentient Kryptonian?

Galactus: "What is this"?

Jor-El: "He is my son, Kal-El".

Galactus: "I had not realized it was ..... this ... so insignificant a life form".

Jor-El: "He is my SON and not insignificant. Chose your words more carefully Galactus".

Galactus was both shocked and amused that Jor-El would take such a tone in protecting this insig ... his "son".

Galactus: "As agreed I will take your son from this world. If you still desire it Jor-El".

Jor-El: "Before I give him to you can you promise to protect and raise him into a good and understanding Kryptonian".

Galactus: "I shall protect this 'son' of yours. I know nothing of your culture".

Jor-El: "I am sending the rocket I was going to send Kal-El in to space if you are able to at a later time can you recover this vessel. Within will be a recorded history
of all Krypton as well as a couple of other items that Kal-El may find of use in his adult life".

Galactus: "Jor-El the time draws close. I must leave soon. I agree to all this. Now do I take this last son of Krypton or leave him to perish with everyone else"?

Lara: "Galactus I am Kal-Els mother and I say take him and tell him of our love for him".

Galactus: "Jor-El"?

Jor-El: "Take ... him".

Galactus: "I would have preferred your company in the coming millennia, but as you wish. Goodbye Jor-El".

Jor-El: "Goodbye Galactus, goodbye my son".

Lara: "Thank you Galactus and goodbye my son".

Jor-El: "Galactus he's now your son please take care of him".

And so Galactus showered Kal-El cosmic power. He then left the planet of Krypton. He watched the unmanned rocket race from Krypton and determined where he would intercept the ship later. As the last cycle of Krypton ended Galactus thought about how he was actually going to miss Jor-El. He then looked to his side at this miniature version of Jor-El. Kal-El what was he going to do with this "son". Now his son?

Krypton exploded Galactus was awash with energy from this now dead planet. He was finally feeling a little better. After the energy died down Galactus notice the child seamed disturbed. What could be wrong with it? Nothing could harm it. Galactus then noticed strange green crystals covering the child. Could this be the cause of the child's displeasure? Looking closer Galactus realized that this Kryptonite was actually poisonous to the child. Galactus immediately changed it into a non harmful substance. Was he going to constantly need to watch over this thing? When does it communicate? When does it become sentient? Looking deeper into this Kryptonian he seen the genetic structure and was amazed. Truly amazed in his countless millennia of existing he had never seen a creature with such potential. Under the correct circumstances a Kryptonian could become a truly powerful force. Did Jor-El realize this? Scanning the rockets trajectory answered this question. The rocket was flying straight to a planet which could foster Kal-El until he was the most powerful creature on that planet to be sure. Possibly in this section of the galaxy. Galactus recovered the rocket and thought about sending Kal-El to this planet, but if Kal-El grew up to be a fraction of his father Galactus would enjoy having him around. That and he had agreed to personally take care of this Kal-El.

Galactus took baby Kal-El in his spacecraft from world to world. Galactus ate well. He still needed to get back to his dimension and Taa II. Cosmic entities are not well received when they travel into another dimension and the entities of this dimension would have certainly noticed his presence by now. Galactus stayed in this new dimension until his dimensional portal was complete and returned home.

Galactus housed young Kal-El in Taa II. Kal-El grew in knowledge and power under the tutelage of Galactus. By about the age of 17 Kal-El participated in his first battle. This involved Galactus against a fleet of several thousand pursuing vessels all determined to destroy the eater of world. The battle was spectacular Kal-El began to see just how powerful he really was compared to the other creatures of the universe. His father was wise in having Galactus save him rather being stuck on some no name mud ball planet. At this time Kal-El began to be more curious about the universe out side of Taa II and Galactus. Galactus sent him out into the universe to curb his curiosity. His only requirement was that young Kal-El needed to return within 50 Kryptonian years. Kal-El explored the universe, its people and its natural wonders.

He first meeting with sentient life went poorly he was disgusted by how these creatures acted. Violence, lies and it seemed all sentient's ate other organics to maintain their own life force! At this point he realized that even Galactus himself had this weakness. He felt horrible for his guardian. He then decided that his cause in life was going to be to cure Galactus of his hunger. He spent the remainder of his time learning what he could in regards to curing Galactus. The fifty year deadline had come to an end and Kal-El returned to Galactus. He found Galactus destroying a planet and for the first time he felt bad not only for Galactus but the creatures inhabiting that world. he wondered if any of these creatures had tried to send one of their offspring to an alien world in the hope that it may survive. Kal-El realized that in his millennia of existence Galactus must have kill trillions and trillions of sentient life. He knew Galactus not as a cold killing machine but as the person Jor-El seen hope in. At this point another decision was made by Kal-El. He would lead Galactus to worlds where Galactus could feed and at the same time if possible not destroy sentient life. He would try to reduce the damage done by Galactus as much as possible until he cure him.





Next we get into meeting Norrin Radd. The creation of the Fortress of Solitude. Eventually coming to Earth. Stranded on Earth. A research station on the moon with some of marvels greatest minds. And the introduction of Galactus creating his new Herald some "Ultimate" of Kryptonian origin.

Dude your story rocks! It feels very much in character for Jor-El. Thats a great origin if ever there was one.

Note:
The Living Tribunal and I sat down and over a cup of coffee we agreed that while many things in this next tale may seem familiar many others may seem to be off slightly. The Tribunal informed me this is due to the fact that there are an infinite possibilities within reality.
If for some reason Event: W could not happen because Character: X did not exist in this tale. Event W may have come around because of another influence. This really started to give me a headache until The Tribunal explained it this way:

Wolverine exists in many realms because Magneto had a fling with a female Wendigo. This Wendigo gave birth to a time traveler named J.J.Jameson. J.J.J. traveled to a distant planet where he found Adamantiuman. J.J.J. took "Adam" back in time where he was killed by Robinhood. His body was buried and later discovered during WW 2. Thus adamantium was made possible. Wolverine happens to be the son of….. ( The story just kind of drags on from here. I think the Living Tribunal started to make things up because he sometimes like to talk. )

Note:
Most conversations between Galactus and Kal-El are telepathic and what may read out as an hour long conversation in reality may be any where from a second to ten seconds long.


Kal-El now an adult approached Galactus.

Kal- El: "Hail Galactus"

Galactus: "Greetings young Kal-El. Has your journeys ended already?…. Yes it would seem they have. Punctual. Good Kal-El."

Kal-El: "Galactus I wish to serve you."

Galactus: "You do."

Kal-El: "No Galactus, I mean, I desire to act as an emissary for you. To seek out worlds for you. So as to mineralize your depletion of energy in questing for worlds."

Galactus: "This is not as new as you wold believe Kal-El. There has been one before you but we will not speak of this."

Kal-El: "As you wish, but you have not yet answered my request."

Galactus: "Good that you are not easily misdirected, but tell me why you would burden yourself?"

Kal-El: "I will take you to worlds that can both sustain you and avoid worlds with life that should be preserved."

Galactus: "How will worlds earn the right to have their destruction omitted from me? By what right do you decide what world is worthy of its' continuation verses its' end?
If you are to serve me as my new Herald would you deny me a world? Would you seek to deceive me? To lie to protect a world I needed for sustenance merely because you granted upon it the right to continue? Answer this Kal-El."

Kal-El: "Nothing in the universe is an absolute yes or no Galactus. I would endeavor to find worlds to pacify your hunger. On worlds with sentience I would attempt to keep you at bay while still holding true to you."

Galactus: "Then there will come a time when the two shall cease to be able to coincide. At that time you will be forced to make a decision, your loyalty to me or to your self imposed values."….."Know this Kal-El my hunger serves a purpose."

Kal-El: "I endeavor to cure your hunger in the future Galactus."

Galactus: "I know of your quest. It is foolish for you to peruse this idle work."

Kal-El: "Idle?"

Galactus: "This fools errand. Do not begin it. First it is….impossible. Second it is ill advised. You tamper with cosmic balance in your quest."

Kal-El: "I do not understand."

Galactus: "Exactly. You have decided to journey with no idea the dangerous quest you set out on. I am a balance. Should you attempt to pervert this balance because of your ideals only utter chaos could result."

Kal-El: "You are wiser than I can ever hope to be Galactus, however somewhere in me I feel a need to help you. I can not explain it. It is who I am. I need to do this. To at least see if your hunger can be ended. When we find a cure you need not take it."

Galactus: "I know the end of your journey Kal-El for I have been at the beginning. You have never felt a twinge of hunger. A need for sustenance. You believe me far stronger than I am. If you believe me able to resist the temptation of ceasing my eternal hunger."

Kal-El: "I would like your concession to pursue this."

Galactus: "Kal-El regardless of what I say you will pursue this. I know and you know. I only say this once. If you begin this journey you will pursue it to the end. And in the end you will see your own story begin. In the end you may know hunger."

Kal-El: "Never a straight yes or no from you."

Galactus: "Nothing in the universe is an absolute yes or no……"

Kal-El: "My own words…."

Galactus: "Your decision?"

Kal-El: "I chose to be your Herald, but know I shall preserve life when possible."

Galactus: "Then let it be. You are now my Herald, my seeker of worlds, my emissary."

Kal-El "Kind of anti-climatic don't you believe."

Galactus: "Kal-El you are the only mortal who would dare talk so candidly to me. If I did not know you better I would believe this to be mockery."

Kal-El "My apologize no offense was meant, however in my time with other mortals it seemed they respected , even expected a person of authority to be or posses a symbol of their…position. I still feel like I'm me…nothing sets me apart or distinguishes me of my new position versus me a day ago."

Galactus: "I see your time abroad has corrupted you a bit. We do not abide by an arbitrary time scale as 'a day' and you are as unique in this universe as myself. Nowhere in this universe shall another like you be found. However if you require something to make you "feel" special, like a herald tell me what symbol would be fitting to this position."

Kal-El: ……………….. "On a world there were these citizens who were recognized by what they wore and a pole arm which was given to them by their ruler. The other citizens recognize them as having authority."

Galactus: "And you wish to imitate them for what reason?"

Kal-El: "Sentients regardless of their differences do have commonality. When I encountered these different species I often was met with hostility. I surmise if I had come as an emissary in "proper" attire my meetings may have ended differently."

Galactus: "Fine, as you wish. Go to Taa II design what you require. I shall then create and bequeath them upon you. Does this end our conversation?"

Kal-El: "Yes and thank you."

Galactic Year: ( GY )The time it takes our solar system to orbit the center of our galaxy 1 time. This equals 225,000,000 earth years. The Galaxy formed -60 GY. The Sun 0 GY. Life began on Earth in 5 GY. Dinosaurs died around 19.6 GY. We live in 20 GY. Class dismissed.


Kal El served as The Herald of Galactus. He brought his lord to new worlds always avoiding sentients when possible. Kal-El would continue his explorations while Galactus fed. His pursuit of curing Galactus still consumed him. For nearly 1/2 a Galactic Year Kal-El had now been with Galactus. In this time he never came close to a solution for his quest. Kal-El began to see the hopelessness in his pursuit. A fateful meeting would change this…….

Wandering while Galactus fed Kal-El finds himself in a solar system new to him. This system actually has artificial satellites…
What? These satellites are armed? What is more they presume to attack Kal-El herald of Galactus the Eater of Worlds? Who would peruse such a foolish task?

Kal-El quickly dispatches these satellites not however before a lone ship leaves a planet in the system and approaches…. Who would dare?

He couldn't believe his eyes! Out here in the cold of space a man covered from the neck down in silver metal, a strange symbol upon his chest and what was he holding? A melee weapon? In space? How can any of this make sense?
How was he even alive? How was he moving?

Norrin Radd: "Alien..This is Norrin Radd of Zenn-La. Please if you can hear me and understand me…what is your name and your purpose here? Please respond if you can. I mean no harm to you….."

Kal-El detected the energy pattern coming from the vessel…a communication. Kal-El raced to the ship and passed through the hull without damaging it. Into the location of the operator of the craft.

Kal-El: "I AM KAL-EL HERALD OF GALACTUS THE EATER OF WORLDS! YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO ATTACK AND SO YOU HAVE SEALED THE FATE OF YOUR WORLD. YOUR WORLD SHALL BE NO MORE!!…RETURN TO YOUR WORL..."

Norrin Radd: "I ATTACKED? I didn't do anything, NO one on the planet attacked you. Those satellites were made to protect us from harm. If you would have told us you were coming we would have turned them off. If you were half as smart as you are strong you would see I'm right!!!!!"

Kal-El: "I…misjudged…I am more frequently met with hostility than not."

Norrin Radd: "Well go figure. You fly around "My boss is coming to eat your planet because you shot at me." That doesn't start things off on the right foot. Maybe you should try something I call "Communication"…

Kal-El: "Your sarcasm does not escape me tread careful mortal. Galactus…"

Norrin Radd: "You prove my point. I say something you take offense to and right away you threaten. Fine call your dad."

Kal-El: "You wish to see your planet destroyed?"

Norrin Radd: "No, no I do not, however seeing as you are probably the most powerful infant in the Cosmo I really don't see you leaving me or my planet intact. Yes you are more powerful than I can probably imagine. Yes I very much would like to continue living and yes I would chose Zenn-La was not "eaten" by your dad."

Kal-El: "Galactus is not a biological relation."…."You are a brave one Norrin Radd and I…"

Norrin Radd: "Listen how about we compromise. You don't call this Galactus and I will help you find another planet for him to eat. Maybe one that isn't filled with a bunch of people living on it."

Kal-El "Why would I consent to this, and why would you want to leave your world?"

Norrin Radd: "To your first question, You may be very powerful and Galactus may be even more powerful, however diplomacy is sometimes more beneficial than running around telling people you meet to prepare for their impending doom. You lack any form of social grace. I could help in this regard. Second for all the wonders of Zenn-La it has grown stagnant."

Kal-El: "Your proposal is interesting however I do not know if I overstep………



Kal-El and Norrin Radd spend several hours discussing the terms of a possible partnership. Kal-El confides in Norrin Radd of his ultimate quest in freeing Galactus of his hunger. Norrin agrees to help in Kal-El's quest and believes that others throughout the galaxy may also be interested and be able to help.

It is decided that Kal-El at this time can not accept Norrin Radd's proposal at this time. For the following reasons:
Kal-El lacks the authority to bring him along.
Kal-El lacks the means to meet Norrin Radds' requirements of life. He has no place for Norrin Radd to be safe, no way to feed him…. and Norrin requires facilities to sleep and keep himself hygienically clean.
In the end Kal-El leaves Norrin Radd with a promise to return once more when and if these requirements are met.



Kal-El: "I shall return if I am able to meet these requirements. Know this Norrin should you meet Galactus he has little patience for idle conversation. I feel that if it had been him that you encountered instead of me things would have turned out differently for you."

Norrin: "I have no doubt your dad and I would have had a different conversation Kal-El……….." "Until we meet again."


Kal-El wasted little time he quickly set forth a path of planets for Galactus to consume. Returning back to Galactus Kal-El discusses his meeting with Norrin Radd.

Galactus: "So after much time together you seek to bring a diversion with you. I do not wish to bring along "insignificance" on Taa II the pose to much of a nuisance."

Kal-El: "I have thought about this much. I would never ask to bring one onto your vessel. I would ask another favor of you."

Galactus: "Then ask."

Kal-El: " I desire my own vessel. So that I may put my own possessions in order and bring them with me when I travel. Also I would bring other sentients aboard to further my own goals……"

Galactus: "I see."

Kal-El: "There are many things in the universe beneath you Galactus that still interest me. I pursue knowledge in many things that are of importance to me and having others around with similar interests would help me in advancing my own knowledge."

Galactus: "As long as these "goals" of yours do not contradict our agreement I can see no harm in this proposal. Know this I have no allegiance to those you may wish to associate with, none of these creatures may board Taa II. I also do not wish to converse with them. These "pets" of yours will be your responsibility and if any of them contradict or interfere with our agreement they will be dealt with…you will be held accountable for their actions. Do you agree?"

Kal-El: "Those that become my traveling associates will be made aware of your guidelines. If any would seek to interfere between us they will be dealt with."

Galactus: "So be it then. Construct a model of this craft aboard Taa II. I shall then construct it for you. This conversation has reached its' conclusion."

Kal-El: …….

Kal-El designed multiple vehicles and spent longer on it then he thought he initially would have. After finally deciding upon one he brought the design to Galactus. Galactus then created Kal-El's new ship. As it was finished Kal-El laid a course for Galactus to feed. This route would keep Galactus for a while. 32 worlds this was by far Kal-El's best run yet. Kal-El then set course for Zenn-La:

Kal-El: "Zenn-La This is Kal-El herald of Galactus eater of Worlds I have returned and seek the one who is named Norrin Radd. Respond immediately."

Kal-El resent the message several times. He was growing impatient. Could this Norrin Radd have misled him?

Norrin Radd: "Kal-El is that you?"

Kal-El: "Yes as agreed I have procured a ship and now seek your company."

Norrin Radd: "As agreed Kal-El I shall come. I have a question first if you don't mind."

Kal-El: "Speak but do not delay."

Norrin Radd: "Where did you get a ship that big, that fast?"

Kal-El: "I do not understand your question. We agreed that before you would/could come to assist me you needed a vessel to meet your biological requirements. I have met these requirements."

Norrin Radd: "I can see that Kal-El I was asking you the question of where and how did you come about a ship so vast and so quickly?"

Kal-El: "I designed it. Galactus created it."

Norrin Radd: "In less than 4 days you created a ship!?!"

Kal-El: "If this is the temporal scale you wish to use than yes. Point .3155208 "Days" spent in the design, 3.672479 "Days" of total construction. Travel and communication would consume the remainder of the time."

Norrin Radd: "You spent…8 hours on designing a space vessel…."

Kal-El: "Yes it was my first and I had difficulty. If not for Galactus it would have taken longer."

Norrin Radd: "I am boarding my ship to come up. Where is your docking station?"

Kal-El: "My docking station?……."

Norrin Radd: "Kal-El?…..You don't have one do?"

Kal-El: "No I do not…It is not required…simply fly into the vessel. You will pass through unharmed."

Norrin Radd: "You just though this up didn't you? Are you sure this is going to work?"

Kal-El: "It shall work or I would not have instructed you."


Moments later within the ship:

Norrin: "So you had this built in under 4 days?! This is amazing, utterly amazing! What did you name the ship?"

Kal-El: "You are aboard "The Fortress of Solitude."

Norrin: "The Fortress of Solitude?"

Kal-El: "Yes."

Norrin: "You realize that makes absolutely no sense."

Kal-El: "Explain."

Norrin: "Well…the word "fortress" implies some kind of impenetrable/immovable building. Solitude is the state of being alone. This is a space ship that you intend on filling with people."

Kal-El: "Yes. Those within my ship will be outside the influences of the universe. It will be a fortress for them. Within the fortress we will act as one entity with a purpose. My purpose."

Norrin: "A little soon to be strapping the dictator boots on don't you think?"

Kal-El: "I do not understand."

Norrin: "I've been on this ship for less than an hour and you are already sounding a bit authoritative. Where it is your absolute word that is law within your ship."

Kal-El: "Why should it not."

Norrin: "No one will agree to help if they feel the are admitting themselves into a prison."

Kal-El: "I will offer them the choice of helping or having their planet destroyed by Galactus."

Norrin: "That ultimatum will only force very smart people to be within your ship. Who coincidentally don't like you and would happy to sabotage your efforts and if possible seek revenge on you for their perceived imprisonment."

Kal-El: "You are more adept at dealing with other sentients what do you suggest?"

Norrin: "Didn't you say you spent 50 "Kryptonian years" traveling and learning the wonders of different sentients and their cultures?"

Kal-El: "Yes, however many times I apparently misjudged the customs. Many times my encounters ended….poorly."

Norrin: "You don't say?"

Kal-El: "That is one of the reasons I chose you Norrin. You seem to have more enlightenment in dealing with others. The fact that your planet is technologically advanced is also part of the equation."

Norrin: "Equation?"

Kal-EL: "I calculated the odds of our companionship being beneficial to my goals. I came away with a higher percentage……"

Norrin: "Never mind. That is something else we need to work on later. Where were we? Oh yes. Dictator Kal-El….You being absolute ruler of your ship may make sense if this was a military vessel. However you are going to fill it with volunteers, scientists, explores, philosophers. Great minds who do not like having or feeling like they are under the rule of absolute dictatorship."

Kal-El: "What would you suggest? Anarchy?"

Norrin: "No. It is acceptable that this being your ship any volunteers will have to accept certain "core rules" things that they just have to accept. Such as no fighting, the ship will not be used for personal combat against other species. Things that you just can not tolerate."

Kal-El: "The consumption of organics within my presence."

Norrin: "What?"

Kal-El: "The consumption of organics within my presence. It…I find it disturbing. It is revolting…to even think about it."

Norrin: "???…Yeah, eating…???…no eating in front of Kal-El. It is a strange rule. However if you feel that passionate about it I'm sure others will understand." ???

Kal-El: "Yes this is something I must insist upon. I am adamant. I understand the need but I don't need to be exposed to this barbarism."

Norrin: "Fine. We make up a list of core rules. Everyone who comes aboard will need to concede to them before they are admitted. After that let it be a democratic system. Anyone may propose a rule. Everyone votes on it. With a majority rules concept."

Kal-El: "And if everyone "votes" to remove Kal-El from the ship? This sounds like structured anarchy. Where ever did you think this up from?"

Norrin: " I can understand your concern. How about a system where anyone may propose a rule, everyone votes and you decide upon this vote what the best course of action to be."

Kal-El: "It sounds as if I am still the "Dictator in charge." why would anyone agree to coming aboard with these conditions?"

Norrin: " You would be in charge, however you would be able to see what people were thinking. The moral of the ship. This would help avoid tension and create a group mentality. It is a compromise. You understand the concept of a compromise right?"

Kal-El: "Yes. Neither side gets what they want."

Norrin: "Let's just try this method until something better comes to mind. We haven't even met our first new member. Let's see what they think when we encounter them."

Kal-El: "So you would go encounter another sentient without any social structure decided before we meet them? This does not sound wise."

Norrin: "Kal-El. No matter what I say you are still going to have doubts. Let us find our next crew member. I'll do the talking. You observe. You are still the man who calls the shots. However any leader must first understand their own weaknesses before they can be effective leaders. You have never led, rarely conversed efficiently with other species and have little social graces. In effect you are a social misfit. I am stronger in dealing with people than you. Let me use my strength to further our goals. If we come to a planet that needs to be moved…"

Kal-El: "I concede."


And so it was. Kal-El and Norrin Radd did encounter their next crew member. And in time still more members joined Kal-El. The ship was alive with activity. A legion of different species determined to cure Galalctus of his eternal hunger. This was their primary goal however in time it did not become their only one. The Fortress of Solitude traveled the stars and in times of need the residents did offer services to planets in need. This did not alleviate the infamy which accompanied Kal-El. Galactus had caused much distruction in the universe and Kal-El was given part of the blame.


Many years later…..



Norrin: "Kal-El we are getting transmissions….it would seem to emanating from someplace pretty close. Perhaps 50 light years."

Kal-El: "What is it?"

Norrin: "I am not certain. Should we change course and head to the source?"

Kal-El: "That would be logical. Take us to the source. However on route continue translations so we may know who we are meeting."

Plouras: "Will do."

Norrin: "Their star should be of interest to you as well Kal-El."

Kal-El: "Yes I see. Interesting take us to the planet. We will deal with then investigate the other celestial bodies in this system."

A short time later…

Norrin: "This species has sent a lot of radio frequencies out. Many seem to be gibberish..nonsense. It is somewhat confusing."

Kal-El: "What information can you surmise from it?"

Norrin: "They are most likely xenophobic…and war like, very aggressive."

Sapliph: "They have sent out many…displays of encounters with as yet unknown alien races. These seem to almost always come to a battle of some sort…Yet these creatures always triumph."

Kal-El: "How advanced technology based would they rate."

Vhex Mon: "Very. If you believe their war propaganda. They have the potential to destroy their own world many times over…"

Norrin: "Vhex we haven't established these transmissions to be war propaganda…"

Vhex Mon: "So you would have me believe that this single planet has met by our count so far 183 separate hostile species…Defeated them…Have in their possession weapons that would be difficult for even us to recreate, technology that would make them a Galactic superpower and some spirit energies we have yet to identify…"

Norrin: "Some of this may be fictitious, however if they are sending out all of these transmissions we have to ask why."

Sapliph: "Scared little children in a see of night…"

Kal-El: "Or perhaps a Purrttle viper. It looks dangerous but it is all show."

Norrin: "Not all the transmissions are about their encounters with what they call 'E.T.s'. We now understand they are a carbon based, their procreation habits…kind of. Dietary needs…we'll skip that. They do war against each other as well…Multiple separate languages and philosophical differences…"

Ka-El: "What is "e" "t" ?"

Plouras: "It is what they call life other than their own planet based. This leads to something of humorous value…"

Kal-El: "I am not interested in humor…"

Sapliph: "This does lead into a better understanding of their self conscious."

Kal-El: "Fine if it will help us in dealing with them better."

Norrin: "We still can't be sure if…."

Vhex Mon: "They call us "E" as in extra or better and "T" as terrestrial. The do not call their planet Terra, or anything close…."

Sapliph: "From what we have been able to determine…"

Plouras: "THEY CALL THEMSELVES MUDDLINGS!!!! THEY CALL THEIR PLANET MUD!!!!"

Norrin: "STOP! We do not know for certain…"

Vhex Mon: "They see themselves as an inferior race. This is why they broadcast this war propaganda…"

Norrin: "If they see themselves in such poor light why broadcast all this other information?"

Kal-El: "Enough. Galactus is summoning me. This planet does not look all that significant. We will make this quick. I go in; learn what we can; we leave. I do not believe this planet has any benefit to our quest but we shall see. We will learn more when I actually encounter them. As always I will broadcast and then make my entrance onto their planet. Have we found the most populated locations?"

Plouras "Several…One is called "New York"…..

Vhex Mon: "Most likely because they destroyed the last one.."

Norrin: "Speculation."

Kal-El: "Yes yes. I would have rather had more time to analyze this planet more, however time is not a commodity we posses."

Sapliph: "This New York has a location where their leaders congregate. It is call the United Nations…."

Kal-El: "Take over their satellites so I may make our broadcast."

Plouras: "Done."

Kal-El: "People of the planet Mud. I Kal-El herald of Galactus eater of worlds. Emissary on the Fortress of Solitude bid you welcome. Welcome to the rest of the galaxy. I shall as an ambassador of peace be landing in the location called New York. Specific location designated to be The United Nations building. I wish a conference with leaders of your nations or delegates assigned by them. In addition to which I request those of you who are viewed as the most intellectually gifted to attend. I look forward to a peaceful encounter. One which may prove mutually beneficial to us all. I will be at the determined location in 4 of you hours. Kal-El out."

Norrin: "Do you think it wise to keep Galactus waiting for so long?"

Kal-El: "Is the next route for him planned?"

Plouras: "Yes."

Kal-El "And Vhex Mon you have not put your home word into the equation again."

Vhex Mon: "No Kal-El. I have not. Nor will I ever again attempt such a ruse. Again I apologize.."

Kal-El: "It is forgiven. I will go to Galactus and supply him with the new route. I will then return to Mud and address these Muddlings. I believe I am able to to this with little chance of failing my obligations to the people of Mud. I shall return."

And so Kal-El made his journey back to Galactus.


Meanwhile:

Living Tribunal: "Galan you are summoned."




This took a bit longer than I anticipated. I had hoped to have it finished in this posting, however....
