HISTORY

Lance was a highly gifted athlete on a college football scholarship, or at least he was until his failure to keep his grades due to his over-indulgence in the pleasures of college life and blowing off classes cost him said scholarship. Desperate for income he volunteered for a medical trial he spotted a flyer for around campus one day, oblivious to the fact that it wasn’t for legitimate medical research and the flyers bait to lure in test subjects for one of the infamous Dr. Karl Malus’s projects for instilling superhuman powers into normal human beings.

Weeks of painful radiation and chemical baths ensued as the very foundations of his existence were rent asunder and rewritten, DNA mutating in ways totally unplanned for by the amoral scientist and his criminal employers. Luckily for Lance these changes went undiscovered by his tormenters as a raid by Captain America and the local police rescued everyone before they were noticeable.

Cursory medical examination had given him a clean bill of health, but he could tell otherwise as he found his physical activities between efforts to make up for his money problems that he was far stronger and more agile than beforehand. He even found at times that he could do things far outside the human norm and even temporarily grant others a wide range of powers on touch.

Tapping into some of those powers he managed to scrape through his next semester and get his scholarship back and even found himself appreciating the classes he’d previously blown off. Committing himself to his education he managed to graduate only a year later than normal after making up for the lost time wasted earlier on. Proving his maturity by turning down a pro football contract due to his powers giving him an unfair advantage over his competitors he instead set himself up as a physical trainer for other athletes instead as well as for the handicapped and those recovering from physical injuries.

Surreptitiously using his powers to help in the recovery of his patients, like temporarily granting enhanced healing where it wouldn’t seem too miraculous, he found a sense of fulfillment in helping others he hadn’t ever felt before, and seeing the misery so many suffered as they came to him for treatment he realized there was a greater purpose to which he could put his powers to. Instead of simply waiting for people to come to him for help he’d learn from the example Captain America had set in rescuing him and the determination of those he was treating to recover and designing himself a costume set forth to dedicate himself to saving others as Power Up!

CONTACTS

In his secret identity Lance may depend on any of the hundreds of people he’s treated over the years to come to his aid, often with someplace to stay or a good meal or a quick bit of cash if he needed it.

ENEMIES

No serious enemies yet.

PERSONALITY

Lance is a compassionate and caring individual who had learned from his past mistakes and from the wisdom available from the years of interacting with and learning from the disabled and injured, as such he does not rush into situations and attempts to work out a way to resolve them with the minimum of conflict or injury. This doesn’t mean he will hesitate to get involved though if haste is required to save another, often adapting a power to best defend himself or another. He will whenever possible attempt to give possible victims a power of a defensive nature to improve their chances of surviving a dangerous situation rather than foolishly believe that he can always save the day, knowing that at that point one is most often humbled at the peak of such pride.

Coral Character Sheet
February 21, 2009 03:10PM

Coral

Super-hero ID: Coral
Name: Coral
Power Category-Demihuman: Otter
Source of Super-human Powers: Exposure to unknown extra-dimensional energies.
Appearance: Coral is a brown-furred anthropomorphic otter of slender build who tends to wear a sleek black water-resistant costume that covers everything but her head and tail when public and little beyond a bikini while in private.
Height: 5’
Weight: 115 Lbs
Sex: Female
Eyes: Blue-Green
Age: 28

Fighting: Remarkable (30)
Agility: Remarkable (30)
Strength: Remarkable (30)
Endurance: Amazing (50)
Reason: Good (10)
Intuition: Remarkable (30)
Psyche: Amazing (50)

Health: 140
Karma: 90
Resources: Typical (provided for her by the scientist responsible for her status)
Popularity: 0

POWERS

Enhanced Senses (all): All of Coral’s senses function at the Incredible level of sensitivity and are adapted to function as effectively beneath water where appropriate (clearly she can’t smell beneath water because she lacks water breathing but she does hear and see just fine) as they may work above the water.

Natural Weaponry/Claws: Coral possesses Excellent Material Strength claws capable of inflicting Excellent edged damage. The material strength will increase to match her density rank if it exceeds Excellent although she won’t inflict greater damage. Their damage will however increase as she grows at the same rate at which she adds new Strength ranks.

Natural Weaponry/Teeth: Coral has Excellent Material Strength teeth and strong jaws; as such she may inflict Excellent edged damage when biting. Material strength will rise to match her current density rank provided it exceeds her normal material strength, although with no increase in damage. Her biting damage will increase as she grows in size however, increasing by the same number of CS as her Strength increases to.

Hyper-Swimming: Coral may swim at up to Excellent speeds but possesses no specialized powers or ability to allow her to breathe underwater or provide her with any particular resistance to the effects of pressure.

Growth (Atomic Gain): Coral has Amazing rank growth, allowing her to create and incorporate new atoms into her body to allow her to grow with a maximum height of 60’ tall, and a maximum strength of Unearthly; gaining a one CS increase to strength for every two ranks of growth. As such with each increase in strength her health will increase as well, to a maximum of 210 at 60’ tall and Unearthly Strength. She may maintain herself at her new height indefinitely, including while asleep or unconscious.

Shrinking (Atomic Loss): Unearthly ability to shunt her mass into another dimension, allowing her to reduce her size as much as 0.01% from her normal height, becoming virtually undetectable by normal means at full reduction. This will also mean her ability to move about will be hampered relative to the scale of her shrinking compared to her environment. She may remain at her chosen height as long as she desires.

Enlargement (Atomic Gain): Coral may extend her growth powers to others, allowing her to expand both other beings and other objects with benefits similar to her own ability to enlarge herself. She may set a duration of anywhere from one turn to permanent.

Diminution (Atomic Loss): Unearthly ability to shrink other objects and beings just as she may reduce herself. She may set a duration of anywhere from one turn to permanent.

Density Manipulation-Self: Rather than use her ability to add and remove mass for growth she may instead use it to adjust her density instead, moving it anywhere from Shift-0 (basically intangible) all the way up to Amazing density. At densities above typical she gains True Invulnerability equal to the current density rank, and increased weight equal to her new density. At densities above her strength rank of Remarkable she suffers a 1CS penalty per rank of density to agility and reduces her maximum running speed to one area per turn. Note that given the degree of weight at higher levels she rarely increases her density that high as few environments are designed to handle something her size weighing 100 tons for example, or even 50 tons for that matter.

Density Manipulation-Others: Coral may manipulate the density of others in a fashion similar to how she manipulates her own, allowing her to reduce someone’s density all the way down to Shift 0 or raise it all the way to Amazing, on contact only. Targets of this power will suffer similar bonuses and penalties as she does as well.

True Invulnerability: Linked to her Growth power as she grows in size she gains one rank of True Invulnerability for every two ranks of active Growth. This means that at Poor size she possesses Feeble rank in this power (reducing damage by 1CS), at Good growth it raises to Poor (reducing Damage by 2CS), at Remarkable growth it reaches Typical rank (reducing damage by 3CS), and reaches a maximum of Good rank at Amazing growth (reducing damage by 4CS).

Extra Body Part/Prehensile Otter Tail: Allows her one extra attack/action per turn, may strike with Excellent ability and inflict Good blunt damage, gaining one CS of damage for every two ranks of growth or every rank of Density above Typical.

LIMITATIONS

Coral is unable to use her density manipulating powers simultaneously with her growth or shrinking powers on the same target. This means she can’t grow to maximum height as well as increase her density, or shrink someone and increase his or her density at the same time. She can either grow or shrink herself and/or someone else or adjust their density, one or the other.

TALENTS

Underwater Combat; Acrobatics; Tumbling; Survival; Language-Lyranian, English;

HISTORY

Dr. Norton Ridgeway was a dedicated scientist with an obsession to independently reproduce the size-changing particles named after Dr. Henry Pym or make a name for himself with his own discoveries in the field of extra-dimensional physics and particle theory. Years of futile efforts went by causing his frustration to grow and grow and his experiments to get more and more reckless as he attempted to make some sort of breakthrough until he finally pushed too far.

Poorly configured equipment and an overly-ambitious and risky test of some of his wilder theories breached the dimensional barriers in a cascade of rapidly opened and closed gates that tunneled into a variety of alternate dimensions and timelines, one of these breaches causing a native to an alternate earth where otters had evolved sentience and roughly humanoid form to fall out of her reality and into Dr. Ridgeway’s lab.

Terrified at first at arriving in such a radically different and unfamiliar location the otter attempted to flee and destroyed much of the lab as she fluctuated in size and mass which only served to expand on her terror: exposure to the unknown energies from the various dimensions the doctor had been attempting to tap into having unintentionally resulted in the otter gaining that which he’d been seeking for so long. While terrified at the results as well the doctor found the thought of his managing to finally achieve what he sought shoring up his courage enough to confront the frightened creature and even though they didn’t speak the same language calm her enough to earn her trust.

Slipping her out of the lab didn’t prove easy given the attention its destruction had wrought but he managed to get her away to his home and alternating between his lab and the investigation into its destruction and the otter he managed to learn enough of her language and her of his to establish a dialog. Having no idea where home was or how to get there Coral found herself with little choice to trust the scientist responsible for her being thrust into such an unknown world and hope that in studying her he might find a way to get her home.

While the doctor wasn’t around she found herself occupying much of her time trying to learn how to read and write his language and studying their magical means of transmitting images from anywhere in their world and trying to comprehend what was real and what was simply entertainment. The more she learned about what was real the more horrified she became; that so many suffered while a wealthy and sheltered few had all the benefits. Her inspiration on what to do came during a rerun of some old footage of the Avengers featuring the both Dr. Henry Pym during one of his phases as Giant Man and Janet Van Dyne as the Wasp and she saw that the strange powers she’d been cursed with could be used to help those in need, and over the doctor’s objections set about doing just that, joining the Super-hero community as the size-changing otter known as Coral!

CONTACTS

Dr. Norton Ridgeway (Reason: Remarkable; Resources: Remarkable; Talents: Engineering, Electronics, General Physics, Quantum Physics);

PERSONALITY

Having been torn from her world and thrust into the strange and unfamiliar surroundings of a high-tech world filled with complex issues and the graying of good and evil Coral is often confused by how so many just seem to accept bad things as just part of living. She tends to be fairly straightforward about things doing what’s right because it’s right and very difficult to convince to let something she feels is wrong continue to occur. Thankfully she does still manage to find ways of enjoying herself and relaxing in spite of the terrible separation from her homeworld and all those she knew, although if left alone too long she’ll find herself dwelling upon her losses and pondering what she might be able to do to find herself a way home. Given the opportunity she’ll investigate virtually any possibility she hears about in order to get home unless it puts the lives of others in immediate risk of death.

Sabra Character Sheet

Sabra

Super-hero ID: Sabra
Name: Sabra (closest human pronunciation)
Power Category-Alien Race: Kyrrelite
Source of Super-human Powers: Natural to her species for her organic steel form, random mutation for her transformational powers.
Appearance: Sabra is a 7’ tall draconic-formed anthropomorphic being of female form and appearing to be made up of organic steel identical in appearance to Colossus with a long silvery tail. In response to human requirements of modesty she wears at a minimum an abbreviated Red costume that covers her torso and out to her elbows and down to her knees while acting the hero and a more comprehensive range of costumes when appearing on her show. While Flesh and Blood she takes on a uniformly brown appearance and a hide-like look and feel to her skin. In either form she appears strangely cute and entertaining in spite of her size and abilities.
Height: 7’
Weight: 574 lbs
Sex: Female
Age: 26

Fighting: Incredible (40)
Agility: Incredible (40)
Strength: Monstrous (75)
Endurance: Monstrous (75)
Reason: Good (10)
Intuition: Excellent (20)
Psyche: Remarkable (30)

Health: 230
Karma: 60
Resources: Incredible (Sabra is a popular star of her own kids show and has a best-selling line of toys related to it and a number of other related materials including a comic book.)
Popularity: 20 (60 to fans of her show) Note: Many people think Sabra is either a masterful creation of special effects or an earth-born mutant of some sort rather than an alien, feeling her history on the public record just a publicity ploy and not real.

POWERS

Organic Steel Form: All Kyrellite’s are naturally evolved organic steel entities possessed of a number of natural offshoots as a result, as such the following benefits and penalties exist:
-Body armor: Amazing protection from most physical and energy attacks, Monstrous against heat, cold, radiation, and corrosives.
-Resistance to Disease: Being made up of organic steel few disease forms are capable of infecting a Kyrellite, as such they enjoy Unearthly protection from diseases not native to their world.
-Kyrellite’s do not need to breath and require little in the way of food or water, requiring just the occasional meal rich in the materials necessary for replacing lost materials due to the natural wear and tear of life. They can however consume nearly anything without injury although may not derive any nourishment from it if it lacks the necessary elements required.
-Because of their metallic nature Electrical and Magnetic Attacks gain a 1CS advantage both to strike and damage and their weight makes it impossible for them to swim.
-Recovers lost health and Endurance at one quarter the speed they normally recover at for other beings.

Natural Weaponry/Claws: All Kryellite’s possess claws on their hands and feet, all of Amazing Material Strength and capable of inflicting Amazing edged damage. Reduce her material strength and damage to Excellent in flesh and blood form.

Natural Weaponry/Teeth: Similar to their claws Kyrellite’s have Amazing Material Strength teeth with which they can bite for Amazing edged damage. Reduce her material strength and damage to Excellent in flesh and blood form.

Extra Body Part/Prehensile Tail: Sabra like all of her kind has a 7’ long tail with a spade-equipped tip with which she may gain an extra attack in combat allowing her to strike for Amazing blunt damage and Incredible Fighting Ability and engage in trip and binding attacks against opponents sized enough to fit within the confines of her tail. While Flesh and Blood her Fighting ability and damage are reduced to Excellent rank.

Body Transformation-Flesh: As a mutant of her kind Sabra can transform from the organic steel natural to her people into one of flesh and blood virtually identical to that of natives of most other worlds (including Earth). In this form she gains the following benefits and penalties:
-Sabra loses all the benefits of her natural organic steel form and requires food, water, and air like all other flesh and blood creatures and may be harmed by anything natural flesh is subject to.
-Reduce Fighting and Agility to Excellent, Strength and Endurance to Remarkable, Health to 100.
-Regains lost health and Endurance ranks at the normal rate for flesh and blood creatures (this means while she may be at her max health in this form health and Endurance lost to her organic steel form will continue to recover at this accelerated rate as long as she remains flesh and blood).
-The hide-like nature of her skin provides her reduced protection against Physical and Energy attacks at Excellent Rank.
-Reduce her weight to half what it currently is and she may swim while in this form.
-Incredible rank Blending
-Amazing rank Spider-climb

EQUIPMENT

Sabra has access to all reasonable items on the market today and always carries several cell phones and has several vehicles modified for her to drive.

TALENTS

Languages-English, Spanish, Kyrellite; Swim (in flesh and blood form only); Performer; Dance (professional); Trivia (Pop Culture);

HISTORY

Sabra originates from a world where much of the life evolved around an organic steel rather than carbon-based pattern. A world where she grew up as a normal member of her race, at least until the day she first transformed into a creature of flesh and blood terrifying those around her. Rejected as a freak and nearly slain she was rescued by the gatherer of others like herself, outcasts due to strange powers only seeking to be accepted by everyone else. Together they tried to prove themselves worthy of being accepted like everyone else in spite of the instinctive hostility towards the strange and unusual.

It was during one of their many adventures that events took such a strange turn for her, as they battled a deranged outcast of their kind unwilling to simply settle for acceptance and seeking to enslave them all instead. The outcast had found his own group of similarly mal-adjusted types and the two sides clashed in what Sabra was sure would be another victory for her group; that is until he broke out a strange device that proved capable of suspending time itself around its targets, imprisoning all of her teammates and friends within its embrace. The only one who managed to escape detection she was forced to make the only choice she could.

Her ability to become natural flesh and blood was generally unknown to most, and allowed her stealth that wasn’t available to those of her kind without such ability. Using it she was able to get close enough to do the bravest thing she ever did as she reverted to her normal form and smashed the device. It was also the last she’d ever do on her world as the device’s destruction ripped a hole in space and time that sent her spiraling across the many planes of reality until she crashed on earth in the middle of Hollywood. When Sabra regained consciousness she was completely confused and disoriented. She was surrounded by so many strange things; not the least of which being the humans she first met. Only the fact that they ran away from her in terror prevented her from attacking them out of her own fear and instinctive reaction to that which wasn’t of Kyrel.

Hiding out amongst the various sets Sabra did her best to learn about where she was including the language of the strange creatures that populated the world, although her occasional mistakes along with her initial introduction eventually led to her having to confront Wonder Man during his time spent there as an actor, along with the remainder of the West Coast Avengers. Outclassed she did her best to fight them off and escape but was captured instead after sacrificing a chance to escape to protect some kids in danger of being crushed by a falling wall after she’d been knocked through it by the showboating Wonder Man.

Something about Sabra had struck a cord with the kids though, who rather than be terrified of her tried to defend her from the heroes instead. While young they were bright enough to recognize she’d saved them and been hurt for doing so and had grown up on enough cartoons of strange but helpful creatures being mistaken as monsters to see through to the truth of things. Seeing the possibilities a marketing executive took up after some careful investigating of things a campaign to free Sabra from imprisonment along with arrange for experts in language to open communications with her. When that barrier was eventually bridged weeks later and her story came out her release was eventually managed thanks to some high-priced lawyers who’d seen the test marketing of a show featuring the alien.

Leery at first to trust the aliens after what had originally happened to her she did realize she had few choices available to her, and fighting every instinct in her she eventually agreed to the strange proposal to become an entertainment icon for the children of these creatures. It did appeal to her when she let herself think about it, given how her own kind had responded to her and yet these aliens felt she’d be a good way to entertain their own children. A crash course and intensive study on human culture and language followed until she was polished enough to handle the majority of human situations including those who still had problems with her non-human nature.

Circumstances didn’t simply leave her as an actress in a popular kids show however, her need for action and original life from her homeworld saw to it she set forth to protect humans where she could whether from accidents, natural disasters, or the deprivations of their own kind.

CONTACTS

Mark Kingston (Public Relations Director for Sabra); Just about anyone who loves her show will also help her out to the best of their ability.

ENEMIES

Sabra has no specialized enemies as of yet, although anyone who has problems with aliens nor non-human creatures in general can be considered a foe.

PERSONALITY

Sabra’s something of a study in contrasts, with her love of entertaining human children and young adults residing alongside a deep desire to return home to her own kind. Alone she is often depressed and withdrawn and caught within her own thoughts so often spends her time in public either doing good deeds or entertaining the fans of her shows. While she’s aware that some humans have the means of traversing time and cross to other worlds her first encounter has left her unable as of yet to really trust any of them to help her and while she will cooperate with any that show up while doing good she will quickly put up an emotional wall between her and them. Whether she can overcome this or not is unknown but given she has no idea what happened to her friends after the destruction of the stasis machine some small part of her is afraid to return, that unknown leaving her with the shadow that maybe her sacrifice wasn’t enough and her friends are dead something she simply can’t bring herself to face.

Another cool character concept. I like the twist of the metallic form being her natural one, with the ability to assume a "weaker" flesh and blood form. Nice to see she's realized some of the advantages of her "weaker" form.

After reading her history, I wonder if Simon might harbor some bit of jealousy because she's become a successful TV personality winking smiley

Glad you like her I did all the write-up work on her this morning before posting her, inspired by a pic I saw of an anthro dragoness that the art style because it was black and white reminded me of the armored look for Colossus. From there it just got me thinking about a flip side where the steel was the natural and the flesh the power. So I thought up some good benefits that'd come from the change for the trade-off of her lost protections and FASE.

Oh I'm sure he does, and I think it was quite the stroke of inspiration having Sabra end up not just a successful personality but a children's show entertainer. I think I had a 'Replace Barney with something better' moment when I came up with that little quirk, particularly with a 7' tall dragoness being kids friendly, although it does make for some interesting campaign ideas both good and bad since I imagine she'd have her show being more educational on the practical level than the fantasy level shows like Barney and Teletubbies operate at.

Nice character, and a nice mix of powers. He's got a lot of versatility and potential, and the capability to hang in combat for a fair bit if needed.

Thanks, the dice were being quite friendly and cooperative when I rolled him up. I only had to switch a few ranks (moved that Induced Mutant bonus from Reason to Intuition and swapped the ranks on Hyper-Invention and Iron Will so he wasn't as over-the-top genius) but otherwise he's as he was rolled up. I'd been looking forward to picking out some power stunts for that TK and setting up a nice base somewhere (between his Remarkable Resources and various talent and power-based bonuses could have afforded a very sweet base) but maybe Lubidius can restart someday and we can continue things where we left off.

Outsider

Super-hero ID: Outsider
Name: Jasmine Brooks
Power Category-Demihuman: Mouse
Source of Super-human Powers: Genetic Engineering of a laboratory mouse
Appearance: Jasmine is a tall, well-toned and trim anthropomorphic mouse clad in apparently bright emerald green fur with a love of tight leather and PVC outfits and black finger-less elbow-length gloves although will dress in more conservative attire if it’s required of her.

Height: 6’
Weight: 195 lbs
Sex: Female
Eyes: Grey
Fur: White (tends to use her Coloration power to render it emerald green and on rare occasions blood red or mixed patterns)
Age: 24

Fighting: Incredible (40)
Agility: Incredible (40)
Strength: Unearthly (100)
Endurance: Unearthly (100)
Reason: Remarkable (30)
Intuition: Remarkable (30)
Psyche: Amazing (50)

Health: 230
Karma: 70
Resources: Monstrous (represents the resources she’s generally able to access from her other earth via mining its raw materials and selling them on her birth world).
Popularity: 0

POWERS

Natural Weaponry/Claws: Jasmine possesses Unearthly material strength claws capable of inflicting up to Unearthly edged damage in combat.

Natural Weaponry/Teeth: Along with her claws Jasmine has Unearthly material strength teeth and jaws allowing her to bite for Monstrous edged damage.

Enhanced Senses (All): Jasmine enjoys the benefits of all her senses operating at the Amazing level of sensitivity, although suffers a 1CS penalty to all attempts to resist attacks directed at any of her senses. Her improved sense of balance makes it difficult to render her dizzy and she always knows which way is up (i.e. away from the center of gravity) when inside a gravity well.

Nightvision: Jasmine possesses Incredible rank nightvision, allowing her to see in low-light conditions (but not conditions without any light at all) as if in normal lighting conditions.

Hyper-Digging: Jasmine has the natural digging ability of mice enhanced to superhuman levels of effectiveness, granting her Monstrous rank Hyper-Digging, allowing her to tunnel at up to 9 areas per turn. Any tunnel she digs remains stable within 10’ of her current position although unless digging through particularly stable ground will collapse behind her as she digs. She can make an attempt to shore up the tunnels while she’s digging although this will reduce her speed to half her normal movement rate, as will attempting to dig through substances harder than Amazing material strength, although she may add her power rank for her Body Resistance to this power rank to determine what she can tunnel through (this means she may dig through Amazing strength materials at full speed and Unearthly material strength materials at half-speed, reduce these speeds by half if attempting to create a stable tunnel). It is also possible to use this power with care and consideration to create underground quarters and permanent tunnel networks.

Body Resistance: Jasmine has Amazing rank resistance to Physical and Energy Attacks.

Regeneration: Due to her enhanced durability and resilient physical structure Jasmine regenerates at Remarkable speeds, recovering lost health 30 times faster than normal and may regenerate lost limbs and organs on a successful feat check (made hourly until successful).

Dimension Travel: Monstrous ability to travel between dimensions with a natural affinity for the earth of her birth and an earth in an alternate reality where sentient life never evolved and where she’s set up her primary home.

Extradimensional Detection: Monstrous ability to peer into any location in any other dimension she desires and may automatically peer into any dimension to which she has an established power stunt for with her Dimension Travel power, with all others requiring a successful feat roll to succeed.

Gateway: Jasmine may create gateways capable of allowing transport across vast distances, into other dimensions, and across time itself with Monstrous ability and range. Once a gate is established it may be accessed anywhere in the multiverse and while the initial range is limited it is possible to ‘stair-step’ by creating a gate at maximum range then from there do so again and again until finally reaching the destination point, at which point the final gate can be accessed without the intervening steps. A common tactic for her is to use her Dimension Travel power to access a dimension and then Gateway to form a stable point at a desired location to get around the difficulties that Dimension Travel has in regards to precision as once she’s in a specific dimension it is easier to form a stable gateway than trying to do so from outside the dimension in question.

Body Adaptation-Self: Jasmine’s body automatically adapts to her environment with Unearthly ability, providing her complete protection from environmental damage, as she becomes physiologically in all ways a native to the environment in question.

Coloration: Jasmine has the Amazing rank ability to change the color of her fur to anything she desires and on a successful Reason feat may adopt more complex patterns (tiger-stripes, camouflage, etc).

HEADQUARTERS

Jasmine has set herself up a deluxe ranch style mansion on her other earth supplied with all the luxuries one can imagine including while she doesn’t yet need it multiple bedrooms, large library, high-efficiency solar power grid to supply all her energy needs and storage batteries along with secondary nuclear reactor and extensive art studios and solariums. She’s always got some project going for expanding on the surrounding area to meet her aesthetic and more conventional needs and maintains a large perimeter fence in order to keep out the local wildlife.

CONTACTS

ENEMIES

Magneto; Brotherhood of Evil Mutants;

HISTORY

Seeing the need to conserve power and use underlings to aid in the creation of his hidden underground bases Magneto experimented with the creation of several artificially mutated and evolved life forms until the successful development of the anthropomorphic mouse who later took up the name Jasmine for herself. For years after reaching full physical maturity he had her excavating and preparing bases for him and pined away for freedom until one day those longings interacted with her previously latent potential for warping space and time in order to dimensionally shift to another dimension, an alternate earth where sentient life never evolved in the universe.

Free for the first time in her life she set about reveling in that freedom as she learned how best to use the strange new powers she’d developed and set up her own cozy home on that other world. More time passed as she shuttled back and forth between the two worlds until one day on her return she was reminded of her creator and former master and the tyranny he’d inflicted upon her. While she’d been enjoying herself and her freedom others were suffering as she’d suffered and so many ways beyond that. She realized she’d spent enough time satisfying herself and enjoying that freedom and it was time to devote herself to doing more for her home world than using it as a quick shopping trip to restock her home on that other earth. No it was time to give back and put her formidable abilities to better use protecting those both human and non- from the deprivations of those who sought to use and hurt others for whatever reason.

PERSONALITY

Jasmine is a very outgoing and fun-loving female who’s had to overcome over a decade of abuse and enslavement to the mutant villain Magneto and has many social issues she has to work out, like how to properly interact with other beings. Given her upbringing she for example often offends with unexpected affection or blunt comments spoken because she doesn’t comprehend the nature of tact or how to speak in a way that doesn’t sound insulting or confrontational. Still she manages well enough and given how readily she speaks of her past most who encounter her realize she’s much the child in her understanding of the world and tend to forgive her over it while trying to educate her on the correct way of doing things.

Thanks. Had to tweak her a bit and thought I'd just eliminate that 'fur-dye' problem and give her a power that'd let her color her fur however she wanted. May have to consider her power stunting Blending from the Coloration now.

Cavalier Character Sheet

Cavalier

Super-hero ID: Cavalier
Name: Trent Hastings
Power Category-Normal Human: High-Tech Hero
Source of Super-human Powers: Personal construction of will-channeling solid-energy generator.
Appearance: Trent is a lean, tan scientist type who likes to dress the geek when in public, both because he enjoys it and it makes for a clear separation between his secret and public ID, behaving far more confident and outgoing within the disguise of his costume.
Height: 5’ 10”
Weight: 171 lbs
Sex: Male
Eyes: Green
Hair: Black
Age: 29

Fighting: Good (10)
Agility: Good (10)
Strength: Typical (6)
Endurance: Excellent (20)
Reason: Amazing (50)
Intuition: Excellent (20)
Psyche: Incredible (40)

Health: 46
Karma: 110
Resources: Excellent
Popularity: S6/H24

POWERS

Hyper-Invention: Amazing rank increase to Reason in regards to the design, construction, modifying, and analysis of any and all forms of technology no matter how alien as well as benefiting from a 2CS reduction in the Resource cost to construct a device before being required to make the relevant Resource feat to succeed.

EQUIPMENT

Power Ring: Constructed of Unearthly material strength materials in the form of a fairly plain and unassuming ring worn on the left hand’s middle finger this highly advanced device provides its wearer with the following special powers and abilities:
-Foremost among its abilities is the creation of solid energy constructs of pure quantum energy. These objects may be of any shape or complexity desired (although for sufficiently complex shapes or devices a successful Reason feat is required) and the energy matrix can simulate any complex device within its wielder’s Reason rank to create. Once created an object will remain in existence until destroyed, willed out of existence by its creator, or self-destructing at an appointed time and will respond to the desires of their creator within the limits of their design. While these creations may be of any color desired and even made to look like any normal device when copying an existing device
-Flight at Psyche+2CS speeds in an atmosphere and CL1000 speeds in space
-Automatically generate a protective Force Field around the wearer in response to dangerous environments or situations providing Psyche rank protection against all Physical and Energy attacks.
-Due to the psionic interface Cavalier enjoys a Psi-Screen of Psyche+1CS rank so long as the ring is charged and worn.
-Provide limited life support in the form of Psyche-level protection from heat and cold and unlimited oxygen within the confines of the protective Force Field.
-As the ring is thought-activated and controlled, channeling its wearer’s will and making it into reality the feedback from long-term use leads to a rapid increase in the wearer’s Psyche. In game terms this means anytime a successful red power feat or Psyche feat is made while using the ring the wielder’s Psyche increases by a point and karma costs to increase Psyche are reduced to half normal.
-The ring’s energy storage capacity is not unlimited, as such it must be recharged every 24hrs to remain at full strength. Failure to do so will result in all available powers dropping 1CS an hour until the ring is either recharged or ceases to function. In order to recharge the ring Cavalier must hold the ring to its Power Battery for 10 turns in order to fully recharge it, regaining 10% of it’s 24 hour charge each turn until fully recharged.
-Due to the psionic nature of the interface the ring is bonded to Cavalier as such only he may use the ring and may even control it with concentration over great distances although the difficulty is greatly increased if the ring is out of sight. If separated from it he may concentrate on it to summon it to wherever he is which unhindered by transporting him it may travel at CL1000 speeds in order to reach him quickly.
-In the event the Power battery is moved or stolen the Ring may track it with CL1000 ability and provide Cavalier a precise idea of where it is, although in the event it’s been transported across time or to other dimensions accessing it may prove problematic retrieving it (although given the capabilities of his energy constructs not impossible to develop the means of retrieving it).
-Cavalier uses the ring to produce his costume on demand, masking whatever he might be wearing in flamboyant fashion similar to a knight of old with tabard and cape and full helm to fully mask his appearance.
-While normally unaffected by the destruction of anything he constructs if he’s consciously trying to hold an object together against forces out to destroy it (a cage holding a physically powerful being for example) the battle effectively becomes one of his Psyche against that of the attack In question (Strength for a muscle man, Power rank of energy attack, etc.). Failure will result in another Psyche feat to avoid being rendered unconscious for 1d10 turns from the strain. For simple restraints he can gain up to a 2CS bonus to his Psyche Rank if he can reinforce them by making them thicker (as per the increased effective material strength due to thickness rules). This won’t help however holding together a ring-created device threatening to self-destruct under the strain of working outside its limits.
-Further powers may be developed over time as Cavalier strives to exploit the full potential inherent in his creation, certain that he’s only scratching the surface of what’s available to him.

Power Battery: Constructed in the deceptive appearance of an old-fashioned brass Lantern this Unearthly material strength device continually absorbs energy from the quantum realm and stores it for the purpose of recharging Cavalier’s power ring. As such the lantern functions as a Shift X level Energy Source with a virtually unlimited level of energy available. Attempting to drain greater energy levels is possible although such attempts to drain more than the safe levels will risk the Lantern exploding in a destructive burst of energy at Shift Z levels destroying everything within one mile of it’s location.

TALENTS

Engineering; Electronics; Physics; Computers; Pilot; Art (jewelry); Art (Metalworking); Nano-technology; Trivia (Super-heroes);

HISTORY

Dr. Trent Hastings was one of the scientists called upon to study the Quantum Bands during the period that they ended up in the hands of SHIELD before ending up bonded to the hero known as Quasar. While his studies weren’t long enough to crack the full secrets of the bands by far they proved insightful enough to lead him to independently research the means of crafting something similar.

Initial efforts proved difficult to put everything into a single portable device, something he dearly favored given how the bands had been put to use to successfully produce several successful heroic careers. Enjoyable as the scientific world was he wanted to do more, and heroes had far more likelihood of accessing the ultimate in advanced technology both on earth and beyond. He wanted that access as well. He could combine his heroic interests and scientific into one unified whole.

Eventually he settled on fabricating a fairly unassuming ring using the most advanced techniques he could come up with, one that could contain a large though finite charge and placed the recharging technology into an equally unassuming Lantern easily overlooked. Between the two he could enjoy virtually all the benefits the Quantum Bands provided and make for himself his own career as the hero known as the Cavalier!

QUIRKS

Trent often likes to create ring constructs that appear like the signature items of existing heroes, particular Captain America’s Shield and Thor’s hammer. While naturally no where near as powerful he often uses them to intimidate opponents as well as for his own protection, since as his ring-creations he can mentally manipulate their movements.

CONTACTS

Trent has several mid and high-level contacts with SHIELD (although if used in a Post-Civil War setting these are now defunct)

ENEMIES

Trent has been fortunate not to have met any supervillains as of yet, although that’s likely to change shortly given his growing activities in the field of super-heroics.

PERSONALITY

Trent is something of a mix of devoted scientist and hero, often studying situations and attempting to implement elegantly engineered solutions to a problem. As such he sometimes has to have someone jolt him out of that and get him to take the straightforward and simple route when the more complex solution is unnecessary and might even result in things failing due to the delay in implementing it. Still he does his best to be a hero and is learning how to put aside that in a fight or other hazardous situation and deal with things promptly. Indeed he’s evolving into a fine and selfless hero who will do whatever is within his power to save lives and help others.

An amusing idea, and a crazy blending of things. Although Cavalier tries to not have it obvious that his ring's his power source after all we know what happened to Freedom's Ring when he went around broadcasting where his powers came from.

*chuckles* Well I hadn't really thought that given he can fly independently although I imagine he might on occasion do so in keeping with his name and perhaps to entertain children or use it as a way to get them to cooperate in a dangerous situations to get them to safety.

Diva

Super-hero ID: Diva
Name: Minerva
Power Category-Demihuman: Mink
Appearance: Minerva is a fabulously gorgeous anthropomorphic mink with pure white fur and long, waist length blond hair. Whether in cut-off jeans and a knotted t-shirt or dressed for a night on the town she knows she looks good and shows it.
Height: 5’ 10”
Weight: 132 lbs
Sex: Female
Age: 3, apparent physical age mid-20s.

Fighting: Remarkable (30)
Agility: Amazing (50)
Strength: Good (10)
Endurance: Amazing (50)
Reason: Good (10)
Intuition: Remarkable (30)
Psyche: Monstrous (75)

Health: 140
Karma: 115
Resources: Remarkable or those of any of her current admirers, whichever is greater.
Popularity: 30 (100 to males under the influence of her pheromones, -100 with other females)

POWERS

Enhanced Senses (all): Amazing

Nightvision: Amazing

Natural Weaponry/Claws: Material Strength Remarkable Power Rank Remarkable

Natural Weaponry/Teeth: Material Strength Remarkable Power Rank Excellent

Pheromones: Minerva automatically and continuously generates mind-altering pheromones of Monstrous potency that instill sexual desire and loyalty in males. Any male affected will go to extreme lengths in order to be close to her and earn her favor, rationalizing most behavior but will stop short of committing criminal acts unless they’re already prone to such behavior. This generally works against her as she can become swamped in admirers fighting for an opportunity to be the one to earn her favor, and the more dangerous individuals will see no problems with injuring or killing rivals for her affections. She earns no brownie points with other females either as jealousy at all the males chasing her, particularly their own, will flare up. These chemicals function at full potency up to 20’ away, losing one CS for every 20’ after the first as the greater air volume dilutes their effectiveness. Their effects will diminish by one CS an hour until completely fading, although can be renewed instantly upon fresh exposure. Repeated and continuous exposure could result in permanent results without extraordinary means to purge the victim of the effects.

Invulnerability to Mind Control: Minerva possesses CL1000 resistance to all chemical based attempts to manipulate or control her mind and emotions.

Extra Body Part/Prehensile Tail

EQUIPMENT

Body Armor: Due to the nature of her pheromone powers Minerva wears a fashionably attractive suit of body armor that contains and regulates the release of her pheromones and gives her Remarkable protection from most physical and energy attacks, and Monstrous against corrosives, electricity, and radiation. She may also outfit it with a helmet and life support pack to upgrade it to grant Unearthly Life Support and protection from airborne threats so long as the armor isn’t breached, and may even survive in the vacuum of space or pressures up to 1000’ below the surface of the ocean. This is rarely done unless necessary as she finds the additions most unflattering.

TALENTS

Seduction +3CS; Psychology; Trivia/Fashion; Sewing & Tailoring; Gemology; Performer (Dancer);

HISTORY

It is often difficult to tell the difference between genius and madness, as it seems that until one proves right they have little difference, and sometimes they go hand-in-hand together, when it comes to Dr. Timothy Waggoner he was assuredly both. Bright and prone to obsessing on one thing until seeing it through then moving on to the next he just happened to be channel surfing satellite channels one day while in college when he changed upon an episode of Animaniacs introducing a sensual anthropomorphic mink named Minerva and instantly became obsessed with her.

Wrapped up in the idea of just how perfect and divine she was he promptly changed his major to learn everything he could in biology and genetics, intent on seeing such a singular creature brought to life to serve and please only him. In fact when he came down to his doctoral work in genetics he ended up tossed out as his thesis regarded the perfection of Minerva and the process required to create her. Given his obsession though he wasn’t going to let a little thing like collegiate rejection get in his way.

Timothy’s genius and knowledge was more than enough for him to find the kind of well-paying job that would fund his secret efforts to create Minerva on the side, including giving him access to cutting edge genetic research to help incorporate in his work. It took him years before he finally accumulated the materials and moved totally from theoretical to practical implementation of his plans.

Things didn’t work quite as he’d hoped though when he finally decanted her from the gestation chamber she’d been developing in, as the equipment designed to program her mind and artificially instill various knowledge and skills into her developing mind wasn’t quite as perfected as the rest of his equipment. In his haste he hadn’t put enough into the computer systems as he had the rest, and the lower quality of it compared to the rest resulted in unexpected variations as she was released.

It wasn’t evident at first as Timothy was jumping up and down with joy at his creation as it breathed its first breathes and set about cleaning her up. Mind abuzz with the cascade of thoughts and information flooding it her awareness blossomed into the realization of how unique she was, and rejected among other things the part of her indoctrination meant to leave her a servile toy to her creator. By the time she was completely clean and her creator thought to test out his new toy she’d become her own woman and refused his advances to his horror.

While her pheromones hadn’t fully developed by that point she was still more than capable of standing up to and dominating her creator and declare her independence. Unable to win out over his creation Timothy eventually capitulated and turned over the most practical clothes he had to her and gave her what could for her to strike out on her own. Given her powers and seductive nature it proved easy enough for her to set herself up with a place to live and all the other amenities of life, thanks to grateful ‘donations’ from her ardent admires.

Bright enough to figure out eventually she had some sort of chemical-based attractiveness added on top of her own natural beauty she sought out and found herself another scientist to ‘help’ her with her problem. This resulted in a variety of custom body armor, with her own flare for fashion incorporated into them, in order to both allow her to control her pheromones as well as let her look hot doing so. It was during the construction of her armor that she found herself stopping a robbery at a bank courtesy of her powers and loved the attention it brought her.

Given some of her personality was still governed by the narcissistic behavior of the animated Minerva she was programmed with, and loved the praise heaped upon her, she couldn’t resist the temptation to take up the roll of the latest superbeing to join the super-heroic community as the Diva!

CONTACTS

Minerva hasn’t any real contacts at this stage in her life, as she tends to rely on her sexuality and pheromone powers when she desires something from someone. As she matures she will eventually develop enough self-control to form alliances on more sturdy foundations.

ENEMIES

Just about any straight female around, and any male who realizes he was manipulated by her to get what she wanted.

PERSONALITY

Minerva has a lot of the spoiled prema-donna of the original animated version still clinging to her, although is mature and thoughtful enough of others that she doesn’t maliciously toy with people. This means while she might enjoy taking money and gifts from doting males she won’t drain them dry or take so much it’ll ruin their lives. If people are in trouble she’ll act to help them to the best of her ability, although given her libido any males around she finds attractive best hope she’s too distracted to follow through on it when the trouble is over. Only married males are safe as she won’t disrespect that bond, but one who’d cheat or attempt to with her when she knows they aren’t under the influence of her pheromones can expect her to see them suffer appropriately for such infidelity. Since she hasn’t met anyone yet who can resist her pheromones her true test of her devotion to heroism will come when she confronts someone able to fight back instead of meekly submit to her powers.

Appearance: Abigail is a tall, toned, and athletic woman with a distinctive naturally bronze skin tone and waist length platinum blonde hair. In her civilian identity she wears understated yet fashionable attire, while in her super-heroic ID she conceals herself within a smooth black outfit covered in a random pattern of a silver cobweb motif that contains her hair and hides all of her features.
Height: 5’ 9”
Weight: 141 lbs
Sex: Female
Eyes: Green
Hair: Platinum Blonde
Skin: Bronze
Age: 28

Fighting: Excellent (20)
Agility: Amazing (50)
Strength: Remarkable (30)
Endurance: Incredible (40)
Reason: Remarkable (30)
Intuition: Remarkable (30)
Psyche: Incredible (40)

Health: 140
Karma: 100
Resources: Incredible (By making use of her Collection power she can augment her base Resources as much as 2CS by salvaging lost silver and gold from sunken Spanish galleons as well as recovering missed/unrecovered gold and silver from old mines, particularly the Comstock Load).
Popularity:

POWERS

Collection: Weaver may collect any desired element, compound, or material, whether raw or finished product, with Incredible ability inside a 25 mile radius sphere centered upon her. Limitations include that it may not collect something that is already bonded with another material (so cannot collect hydrogen by removing hydrogen atoms from water for example, or remove iron atoms from steel, but could collect iron in the form of rust) nor may it under normal circumstances remove materials from inside a particular person (to remove a toxic substance for example) except on a Red power feat. The power may however be used to collect say insulin or blood of a specific type by gathering it in minute quantities from everyone within range, levels insufficient to injure anyone yet still meet the demand. It’s also possible to gather life forms provided that they are within the weight limit of the power (40 lbs total), so could collect all the mice, rats, roaches, etc within the range of her powers and materialize them within one area of her current location. She could even teleport a small child or person provided they were within the range and weight limits of the power. Collected materials will materialize at any chosen location within 10’ of Weaver.

Web-casting: As a specialized adaptation of her Collection power Weaver may subconsciously gather the appropriate elements and compounds from her surroundings and synthesize them into various kinds of webs with Incredible ability. Basic restraining webs have Incredible material strength and possess Monstrous adhesive properties. All webs have a duration of 1d10hrs before harmlessly degrading back into their basic components and may be fired up to one area away. Some specialized webs include the following:
-By including elements like lead she may produce protective web barriers and restraints that block radiation with Amazing shielding, Monstrous for extra thick and heavy webbing (takes an extra two turns to produce sufficient amounts of webbing for this purpose). This webbing is less durable than the basic webbing and has a maximum material strength of Remarkable.
-By focusing on non-conductive materials like rubber can create a webbing that insulates against Electricity with Monstrous shielding and maximum material strength of Incredible.
-Create a specialized webbing that is extremely conductive, allowing Weaver to ground objects or substitute for damaged or missing electrical wiring with Amazing ability and Incredible material strength.
-Create weblines allowing her to swing up to 3 areas per turn.

Body Coating: Similar in function to Weaver’s web-casting ability she may collect existing materials and synthesize them into a variety of body coatings that provide different benefits, with known coatings including the following:
-Basic flexible body armor that provides Incredible protection against Physical and Energy attacks.
-Specialized body armor against hard radiation (based off of the webbing with similar properties) that provides Monstrous protection against radiation but only Remarkable protection against other physical and energy attacks.
-Specialized for dealing with electricity this coating provides Monstrous resistance to electrical attack and Incredible against other Physical and Energy attacks.

Bonding: Weaver is capable of causing matter to bond at a molecular level with Monstrous ability and strength, with the strength of the bond starting at Feeble and increasing one CS per turn until reaching a maximum bond strength of Monstrous after nine full turns. This bond is permanent unless she or someone with access to similar powers reverses it. She’s managed to develop the following power stunts:
-Create a short-term adhesion field between her molecules and that of any surface allowing her to Spiderclimb with Amazing ability.
-Combine her Bonding power with her Web-casting in order to give her webs Monstrous adhesive properties.

HISTORY

The super-heroine known as Weaver was born to Robert and Rebecca Jenson; a wealthy industrialist and award-winning chemist who had a chance meeting when their interests crossed and developed an instant attraction towards one another that blossomed eventually into love. Growing up with a range of private tutors and caregivers Abigail grew up fairly well-adjusted and loved with a greater level of maturity than many children of wealthy parents, a maturity that would prove useful in the coming years when her mutant powers began to manifest themselves when puberty hit.

Manifestations of her mutant power of Collection began at first, randomly collecting things that had caught her interest and leaving her suffering a period of false accusations of theft before she realized what was happening and practiced long and hard to gain control over it so it only worked when she wanted it to. Weathering that phase she had similar efforts that had her spending much time alone for years until she was certain she wouldn’t manifest any of her powers in an embarrassing or potentially dangerous fashion.

Heading off to college she decided major in chemistry having found it a more interesting thing than dealing with running a business like her father did, and minored in history and archaeology in regards to Spain, having always found the stories about Spanish conquests and gold told to her by one of her private tutors fascinating. She’d have likely settled into a career related in one of those fields if not for a botched terrorist plane hijacking that led to the deaths of both her parents.

Devastated she found herself thrust into the position of inheriting their estate and a company she was ill prepared to handle on her own. Changing her major to business management she went in for a crash course in what it would take to effectively manage her inheritance while finding a reputable firm to help her handle things in the meantime. With the loss of her parents due to the evil actions of others she decided she’d been wasting her potential as well, when she’d seen so many able to do far less than her acting to help others. She knew it’d be a challenge running a company and protecting the innocent at the same time but she knew she had to give it a try, as the newest heroine on the scene: Weaver!

PERSONALITY

Abigail manages to remain a fairly happy person although never forgets the loss of her parents and finds her actions tempered by that loss. While she keeps a set of trusted managers to help her manage the family company she always makes sure to keep an eye on things and hold tightly to the reins to ensure that failures brought about by incompetent or thieving managers like she’d seen in other companies wouldn’t happen to hers. She strives hard to balance her super-heroic actions with her corporate ones and still find time to be herself and enjoy some relaxing pursuits to keep herself sane and balanced.

POWERS

Telepathy: Mindstar possesses Excellent rank Telepathic powers with an extended range allowing him to communicate with minds up to 25,000 miles away.

Telekinesis: Along with his telepathic abilities Mindstar possesses Excellent rank Telekinetic ability, capable of working at full strength up to 2 miles from his current position, reduced to Good rank in the range from 2 miles up to 25 miles distant, down to Typical rank for distances over 25 miles but up to 250 miles away, to Poor rank from over 250 miles up to 2,500 miles way, and to Feeble rank strength from over 2,500 miles up to 25,000 miles distant.

Empathy: Mindstar may sense emotions with Excellent ability within a range of 25,000 miles or when trying to sense the emotional content of an area may read the dominant emotion or emotions within his surroundings up to 2 miles from his current location.

Teleport-Self: Mindstar may teleport with Excellent abilty and a range of up to 25,000 miles and due to inherent safeguards he automatically psionically scans ahead to the target location to ensure he doesn’t materialize inside an object. If something is in the way he will be shunted safely to the nearest safe location nearby to occupy. He may transport up to his Strength limit (400 lbs) in objects or living beings along with himself when doing so.

Teleport-Others: Rather than teleport himself Mindstar may as well teleport other people and objects up to his Strength rank with Excellent ability and a range of 25,000 miles with the same safeguards inherent in his personal teleportation.

Clairvoyance: Mindstar may extend his vision to view distant areas with Excellent ability and a maximum range of 25,000 miles. While viewing distant locations he is potentially subject to any light-based attacks or events (viewing Ground Zero just as a nuclear device goes off) and failure to make a successful Red power feat in such a case can lead to temporary blindness for 1d10 days (although can still attempt to view things with his Clairvoyance in the meantime to compensate).

Clairaudience: Along with his vision Mindstar may extend the range at which he may hear things up to 25,000 miles away with Excellent ability and similar to his Clairvoyance he is potentially subject to sound-based attacks and events at a remote location he’s viewing and may suffer temporary deafness in the case of suitably loud sonic events on a failed Red Power feat.

Psionic Detection: Mindstar has the Excellent ability to detect, identify, analyze, and track psionic phenomena with a range of up to 25,000 miles as well as detect latent and active psionically-endowed individuals.

Telelocation: Mindstar has the Excellent rank ability to locate anyone he desires within a sphere up to 25,000 miles from his current location. This requires his possessing a part of or a possession of the targeted quarry to get by with a Green feat, previous contact with the target to get by on a Yellow, but requires a Red feat if all he has is second hand information (and it must be detailed).

Remote Sensing: Mindstar’s Excellent rank ability with this power allows him to extend the range of all his senses not covered by his Clairvoyance and Clairaudience (Smell, Taste, Touch) up to 25,000 miles from his current location as well as extend the range of his Telepathy, Empathy, Psionic Detection, and Telelocation up to 25,000 miles as well.

Resistance to Mental and Emotional Attacks: Mindstar has Incredible Resistance to Mental and Emotional attacks due to his enhanced psionic potential.

Precognition: Mindstar can see into the future with Excellent ability, allowing him to perceive future events up to 40 hrs into the future with the initial use of the power within a 24hr period, reducing the rank by 1CS for the range with each additional use until being reduced to no more than 1 turns lead time. This power only functions to warn him of future events involving 100 people or more (bomb at a sports stadium, terrorist attack on a hotel, etc.) as well as events presenting as threats to himself or friends. A white feat does little more than give the idea something’s going to happen but has connected to an unrelated event and provides information useless to his timeline, a Green Feat has connected to a possible future event in his own timeline but only provides for basic details, a Yellow feat will provide full information in regards to anything visible within the vision and a Red feat will provide possible information not visible but directly related to the event. He may also read the minds of anyone within the scope of the vision to gain additional information and enjoys a 1CS bonus to the power rank with regards to events revolving around his friends, special enemies, possessions and dwelling places and gains a 2CS bonus in regards to dire events regarding himself.

Postcognition: Along with the ability to perceive future events Mindstar may view past events with Excellent ability, reaching back as much as 20 weeks into the past. This requires some tangible item as a focus whether it be a photograph of a location or person, a possession of an individual, or being within 10’ of a location whose past he wishes to view. This power possesses similar limitations to his Precognition in regards to the level of accuracy and bonuses in regards to viewing the past related to himself, friends, dwellings, and possessions.

Total Memory: Mindstar’s possessed of Excellent rank recall of anything he’s ever experienced, allowing him to review his memories of precognitive and postcognitive events in exacting detail.

Hyper-Invention: Mindstar has an Excellent rank increase to his Reason in regards to analyzing, developing, improving, modifying, and all other feats related to those things of a technological nature and enjoys a 2CS reduction of the final Resource feat required to construct something before having to make the feat in question.

Force Field: Mindstar can generate an Excellent rank Force field to protect him against physical, energy, and mental attacks. This field is effective at full strength up to one area away, losing a rank of 1CS for each additional area although on a successful Red Psyche Feat may maintain it at full strength at full extention for up to 1d10 turns before collapsing for 1d10 turns of unconsciousness due to the strain if he fails another Red Psyche Feat.

Iron Will: Mindstar has Excellent control over his mind and body, allowing him to resist the effects of detrimental events as well as reduce the damage that might result from them. This allows him to reduce the damage from attacks up to Excellent rank in half as well as knock off the damage for more powerful attacks by 10 health before suffering health damage.

TALENTS

HISTORY

Albert Noland was involved in the development of technology to allow for detecting human thoughts and produce the next generation of human/computer interfaces, bypassing mechanical input like keyboards and mouses and go directly to the human mind instead. He was making promising strides until the day a faulty power supply regulator and sub-quality parts acquired by a particularly cheap parts supplier resulted in the prototype interface helmet he was trying out suffering a massive power surge that interacted in an unexpectedly beneficial fashion with the electromagnetic and electrochemical nature of his brain unlocking an array of dormant psionic abilities as a result.

While deciding to keep the source of his unexpected bounty a secret Albert decided to go public with his powers and throw himself into helping his fellow man like he couldn’t before. In the meantime he would attempt to not only perfect his interface technology but try and reverse engineer things to the point of being able to reproduce the events that had empowered himself as well.

CONTACTS

Albert has several contacts at his former employer (he was soon fired due to fears of super-villain attacks upon the facilities) he can call upon for help with Engineering and Electronics related things, as well as a financial adviser (Business/Finance talent) who helps him manage his savings and ensure he’s able to continue at a comfortable level of income as he sells his services using his powers to help out in profitable ways (like shipping expensive, fragile, and/or perishable materials reliably). He’s also well liked by the emergency response crews in his city due to his efforts to help out in emergency situations.

ENEMIES

Albert has a number of more normal human level enemies, particularly the gangs in his area but as he’s focused more on dealing with non-superhuman related events he’s yet to cross paths with a super-villain.

PERSONALITY

Albert is quite the scientist when it comes to things, looking at them more to study them rather than reacting in a heated or impulsive fashion. However as he explores his powers and gets more comfortable with them he’s becoming more outgoing and physically active as he devotes himself to enjoying life and bettering it for everyone he can at the same time. While he’s suffered some problems from being open to the public eye about his super-human abilities (at least the more obvious and flashy ones) he’s not regretted it and feels proud whenever he’s going down the street and the occasional person thanks him for his good deeds which leaves him able to endure the downside of people who react in a more negative fashion.

Thanks, put that background together just before posting Mindstar earlier. Nice and simple and yet still quite intriguing and had fun working up the ranges on things.

Mindstar would be a great support character, able to zone in on criminal activites and alert the police, teleport out hostages or people who needed medical attention. He'd be an excellent low key hero, he could hit the bad guys without most of them ever knowing it was his doing. Kinda like Rebel in Heroes right now.

Thanks, I thought I'd have fun and develop him around the lines of the psionics from the Talented novels by Anne McCaffrey, with a range of low level psionic features but no above-human stats. The modified ranges for his TK comes from the same idea. About the only thing he doesn't have is their ability to connect with an available source of electrical power to vastly augment the range of his powers (for a feature character who first demonstrated that ability by the end of this novel featuring him he was able to use a custom generator and a little extra gestalt help to teleport a megaton colony ship from the Earth Solar system to Alpha Centauri 4.3 light years away). With his generalist nature he can backstop just about anyone and his shining point rather than being a super-specialist in one area is his flexibility.

Angst Man Character Sheet

Angst Man

Super-hero ID: Angst Man
Name: Robert Byrne
Power Category-Random Mutant
Source of Super-human Powers: Random mutation
Appearance: Robert is a plain, average looking young man without any distinguishing features to stand out in a crowd. He doesn’t bother with any kind of costume as it just made him look stupid trying and left him even more depressed and angsty.
Height: 5’ 10”
Weight: 179 lbs
Sex: Male
Hair: Black
Eyes: Green
Age: 24

Fighting: Incredible (40)
Agility: Incredible (40)
Strength: Incredible (40)
Endurance: Amazing (50)
Reason: Good (10)
Intuition: Remarkable (30)
Psyche: Amazing (50)

Health: 170
Karma: 90
Resources: Typical (6)
Popularity: -20 (he’s so depressing to listen to that even after he’s saved your life you wish he hadn’t)

POWERS

True Invulnerability: Angst Man’s body has Remarkable rank imperviousness to all forms of physical and energy attacks save those of a magical or psionic nature.

Regeneration: Angst Man regenerates at Amazing speeds, recovering lost health 50 times faster than normal and will regrow all lost tissue so long as he’s alive.

Resistance to Mental and Emotional attacks: Angst Man has Monstrous rank protection from all attempts to manipulate his mind and emotions due to the depths of his angst.

Self-Sustenance: Fueled by his angst Angst Man no longer seems to require food, water, or air to survive.

Aura of Non-descriptness: Angst Man generates a field of non-descriptness, as such people quickly forget features about him and replace them with generic details instead. This ability functions with Remarkable rank effectiveness and targets the LOWEST ranked stat of those exposed when it comes to resisting with Intuition or Psyche.

Self-Revival: Angst Man’s will-power and strength of angst is so strong he may revive from apparent death with Unearthly ability.

WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS

Angst Man’s powers and FASE are fueled by his angst, as such at his current levels of angst and misery his stats are as shown. Situations that cause him to lose his angst and feel happy or forget his problems will cause his powers and FASE to drop 1CS per turn until reaching all Poor for FASE and his powers cease to function. On a successful Psyche feat he can regain his original angst-ridden status at which point he will begin to regain ranks at the same rate they were lost at. On a Red Psyche Feat he will be instantly restored to his normal ranks due to the angst flooding back in. It’s possible though unlikely that an extreme case of angst occurring over and above his normal levels could cause a temporary or permanent increase in his FASE and powers or bring about new powers fueled by the angst.

TALENTS

Business/Finance

HISTORY

Robert Byne was a happy go-lucky young man until his life went to hell in one terrible series of events starting with the death of his mother and father in a murder/suicide due to massive financial debt on his father’s part and his own near-death at his father’s hands as he sought to kill all of his family before killing himself. Barely surviving he awoke in the hospital weeks later to the news of what happened and that due to the debt the family home and all the furnishings had already been repossessed and he had no where to go and to add insult to injury he didn’t even have the health insurance to cover his medical bills that he thought he had as it too was wiped out due to his father’s financial madness.

As he lay in the hospital bed wallowing in his misery and reviewing things over and over again, the emotional trauma growing as he became locked into the cycle of depression the angst within him grew until the reached such depths that his latent mutation was triggered, suddenly accelerating his recovery until he found himself a medical mystery with the complete elimination of all the signs of his injuries and even old childhood scars.

At first he was elated by this turn of events, thinking something was finally going right in his life again, at least until he found himself no different than he was before. It wasn’t until he felt the changes return after another bought of angst over his financial problems and lack of a home that he realized the angst-inducing suckiness of his powers: if he wasn’t miserable and angsty all the time he was normal so could never enjoy what he had because he’d promptly lose it again.

Miserable as he was about things it didn’t seem to get in the way of him saving an (unappreciative) woman from being mugged or getting involved in other things that he crossed paths with, or adopting the unofficial super-hero ID of Angst Man whenever anyone asked (after someone he saved mockingly called him that after being saved from a drive-by shooting).

CONTACTS

Contacts, for Angst Man? You must be joking.

ENEMIES

Angst Man is really too pitiful to have any enemies, even amongst those criminals he’s stopped.

PERSONALITY

Robert is one of those people who no matter how good things go, no matter how much he does right, he’s always seeing the negative of it and never happy. Save someone from a burning building or stop a bank robbery and he’ll just be upset at the clothes he has to replace or how none of the people he saved appreciated it. Even his efforts to help out and save others leaves him angsty because he can’t stop himself from doing good no matter how much they don’t appreciate it and how miserable and angst-ridden it leaves him.

Angst Man needs to join the X-Men. Not only does merely wearing the 'X' pretty much guarantee endless angst and emo insanity, but hanging out with Cyclops will up Robert's angst level dramatically...
