Yours too is a respectable pov.
My biggest problem with it, in terms of implementing it in my own campaign, are characters like Storm or Magneto, or my own character Powersurge.
Each of these characters are regularly portrayed as not necessaily that much tougher than your average well-conditioned human being. Nevertrheless, they each have exceedingly high Endurance ranks.
In terms of Powersurge (an energy generator) this is rationalizd in terms of latent energies at his disposal and correspondingly greater stamina. I'd imagine some similar rational behind Magneto's Storm's high End. rank.
None of these characters, ie. Powersurge, Storm or Magneto, deserve to be in the same class of raw toughness as the Thing. And as things stand, they aren't. However, if we computed their health with the primary accent on their Endurance rank, then they would be right up their with such heavy hitters as the Thing, Colossus, Iron Man and the Hulk... something I hoped to move away from by revising the Charging rule.
So, while placing the Health accent on Endurance is a good, logical idea all-in-all, it would take a bit of tweaking of various character's stats. It almost begs a new stat... say a Constitution to compliment Endurance. Eesh!
