I've sometimes wondered about things like Fighting or Agility providing any additional health. But then, a person with a high fighting or agility is going to have a habit of circling or stepping away from punches and/or crowding blows and/or going rubber-neck or exhaling when struck, with the end result being that they might be capable of withstanding more damage than someone who might very well have greater pure durability, but little technique.
While it is imperfect, the Health system is alot like DnD, where the greater hit points reflect, not only the sheer abilty to absorb damage, but also the ability to mitigate damage.
I always kinda liked the Villains and Vigilantes way of determining hit points. You took the body weight, divided it by 50, and then applied various stat-based modifers to the result. Endurance provided the highest multiple, Strength the next, then Agility, and finally Intelligence.
You had to be digustingly smart to compete, hit points wise, with a high End character.
Of course, the V&V to-hit system blew...
