It seems to be more like "bracing" for an attack. The Basic Set describes it as follows:
" Much like an offensive lineman is set to receive the charge of an opposiing tackler, the character using the block maneuver is trying to resist the damage done with his own brute Strength. "
and. . .
" The block maneuver is used primariliy by very strong individuals with lo

I created the Battle Cycle Table that works as follows:
BASIC ACTION RANK = AGILITY RANK.
Bonus: If the Fighting Rank is greater than the Agility Rank, then the Action Rank is +1CS.
EXAMPLE: Spider-Man has Amazing Agility and Remarkable Fighting. Therefore his Action Rank is Amazing. Captain America has Incredible Agility and Amazing Fighting. He also has an Amazing Action Rank!! For thi

Vahalla has Amazing (50) Strength.
She needs a Green FEAT to lift 10 to 49 tons.
She needs a Yellow FEAT to lift 50 tons.
She needs a Red FEAT to lift 51 to 79 tons.
Does this mean that , if we apply the automatic FEATs rule, she does not need to roll to determine if she can lift less than 10 tons? If so this means that her casual use of strength is that amount of weight (?).

Does anyone happen to know the title of the book that he wrote about the afterlife? I read a review of it many years ago. Basically, when one dies, their soul travels into outer-space and dwells there for eternity.

Rag,
I sincerley apologize. I should not have wrote that about you. I was in not such a good mood and took it out on you. My attack on you was in regard to the porn link, not the picture of the tree.
Regardless of why I did what I did, please accept my apology.
Neither am I a jerk. But sometimes I do stupid things.
Again, I am sorry.

In the begining, Martial Arts permitted the one blessed that talent to stun or slam an opponent regardless if that foe had equal or highter Endurance to the attacks Strength.
Then, came the Martial Arts talents being broken down into A, B, and C with the publication of Realms of Magic.
Why? To give weak Fighting ranked magic users the abilty to either A: Slam or stun a foe with equal or hig

With the exception of Typical Psyche who just described the Powers Set for Martian Manhunter. I agree Typical Psyche poses a problem. That is what a Game Judge is for.
Let the player and the Game Judge figure out how to reconcile. Point based creation is a arduous math-monkey loving exercise.
NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.

The bottom line for me is this:
I have been aware of the game since it came out in '84 and have played with consistency since '91.
I too have house rules that I believe make the game a better experiecne.
However, one thing that I have learned through trial and error is that the attack FEAT and defensive tactic FEAT system is perfect for this game.
This is in many ways a fait

David,
Your work revitalized the game. I had a friend (rest in peace) who because of your imagination had his own set on fire. Dozens of characters and hundreds of hours of fun sprang forth. Regardless of where your career takes you, know this: You are appreciated and well liked, and as nutty as this may sound, you have made a difference in peoples lives.

The ruling for edged attack damage from the Basic Set (1991) page 19:
"Edged weapons have a listed damage value. This is the minimum amount of damgae that will be inflicted on a hit. The attacking character can choose to inflict more than this, up to the material strength of the weapon or power being used,or the Strength or the attacker, whichever is less.

I'm not saying that. But is the game's designer saying that?
Re-read the Case in point and the Conclusion paragraphs from my posting.
Is it the creator's intent that the attacking material strength be construed as the damage rank v. the attacked material strength?
I am concluding that that is his intent. I don't have to agree with his intent, but, he wrote the ruling.

Whenever the X-Men movie (one) is playing I enjoy the scene where Logan is fighting Mystique and his claws slice through the metal that she is trying to slug him with.
Could that be a visual example of how material strength becomes damage v. other material?
As far as comics, in Ultimate War, Logan leaps off of a building and onto the back of the flying Iron Man and rips the armor up with gash

From the Basic Set 1991:
"Claws and Teeth: Sharp edged weapons such as Tigra's teeth and Wolverine's claws, have separate material strengths and ranks. The material strength indicates what the weapon is made of; the rank indicates how much damage the weapon causes.
Claws and teeth can tear apart things like body armor, but not force fields. They inflict only their normal

i meant to include that if the Intesities were identical, i.e., Incredible Strength v. Incredible material, then the character would need a Yellow FEAT.

He sure as heck couldn't hit him during the Secret Wars when Spidey evaded every attack that the X-Men threw at him.

So if Wolverine's Endurance is Remarkable in one write-up, then he should be able to reco
