Hmm... I certainly didn't really mean to flame you Tormain. Writing in a foreign language make you lose quite a lot of your stylistic sense, so I might have come off rougher than I intended.

We may not be talking about the same thing. I agree that the better the background is fleshed out, the more fun the character is to have in a game. But I see no need for the background to include "death/dismemberment/rape/etc", as Warlock writes.

In a light hearted campaign, inspired by golden or silver age comics, I think the "Hey, I've got nifty powers! I'll use them for good!"-motivation is decent enough.
