Nuke, I don't even know who you are holmes. As far as TAG goes, I don't have beef with him or really know him either.
But you know what. I never asked anyone to reply to this thread. But if even Nightmask and I can find some common ground on this topic, then you know what, I could care less about your little throw down attempt.

I'm pretty much in agreement here. The helm of Nabu is a great artifact, but it's typically the source of the magical power of whoever wears it, wheras, Dr. Strange is all about his own knowledge and application of the Mystic Arts. Strange would be able to determine this fairly quickly and exploit it.
Also, Fate isn't consistently powerful either. Depending on the identity of

That was pretty much my reaction. He's gonna be taking over Astonishing X-Men whenever Whedon finishes up his crap fest. But his books come out at about the speed that old people @#$%&, so who knows how long we have to wait. But hey, Simone Bianchi is doing the art, so I'm looking forward to some sweet X-stories coming in the next year.

Not so much these days, but in my earlier years of collecting, I did buy many many titles even if the quality was whatever out of character love. Ghost Rider after issue 24 comes to mind.
Nowadays I usually drop something after about 3 issues if it's not striking my fancy.
Right now New Avengers is really working my nerves. it's been pretty much one good issue, one crap issue,

And just by hearing about people saying Bucky came back I thought was the stupidest thing I'd heard in my whole life.
Then I went and took a look at some of the new Cap books, and it became my sleeper hit. it was the book i was reading that my friends had no idea was as cool as it is. And when i started lending them issues, they were wanting to know why i was holding out for so long.

Granted you do have some positive mentions about comics, so my bad for not giving them their due.
However, when I do rally to the cause of defending modern comics, it's generally because people who complain are making unfair characterizations of the title based on hearsay and conjecture, as opposed to reading the titles involved. That or hearing the same complaint made over, and over, an

Ok, this is the exact kind of thing that I feel the need to speak out against.
Ed Brubaker's run on Captain America.
This is a story that was set up for litterally 2 years. If you've read the Captain America Omnibus, the comics, or the trades, then the story not only portrayed Cap at his absolute best going up against the absolute worst, but the whole time, he was a red white an

That's just not true. When people praise stories that I'm into, I post on those threads too. The first part of World War Hulk, I'm in that thread. Civil War, I'm in that thread prasing it too. Omega Flight, you'll find me. I started my own thread on Messiah Complex too. I lend my support when people talk about what it is they're enjoying.

there are periods in comics past that I also thoroughly don't enjoy. And it's cool if you don't like what i don't like. it really is. There's a lot of factors that differentiate me from fans older than me, as well as me from fans younger than me, and everywhere in between. When I was a kid, the big things were Fall of the Mutants, Mutant Massacre, Inferno, X-tinction

And I understand the voice of dissent. I think that it's a healthy way of expressing one's self. What I think is pointless though is when it's only dissent, day in, day out. Every week when new comics come out, there's consistently the same people who log in and get ready to bash things down.
And while I apologize for assuming you haven't read when you said you have

So it's okay to rip apart the things other people enjoy because you're not willing to stand up for the things you think are good?
Sorry, but that actually explains alot to me. Sadly though, it's a rather bitter outlook.
The point is though, if you're not getting any joy out of it, you can't find anything out there that brings you joy, you're not willing to spr

Okay, rook, let's take what you're saying into consideration for a moment.
You've said yourself that you haven't bought a book in the better part of a decade. Then how can you honestly say that quality hasn't improved since you dropped the hobby? If you're not reading the books yourself, then all you're doing is complaining based on hearsay and what good is

that's kind of a weird egg there. I remember that Thor's Hammer back in the 2nd edition Marvel U trading cards saying that bad boy weighed 150 lbs but by any stretch neither of those values are in the Remarkable column.
I never did understand that requirement. After all Cap lifted it when his strength was in the Excellent range without seeming to have to strain with all his might.

QuoteI just have to say that week-in and week-out, I see various posters and various bloggers gnashing their teeth at a variety of mainstream books. If it's that much of a chore to read them, save yourself the $2.99 and find something that you might enjoy. There are literally hundreds of books to

But that's really just assuming that he became physically stronger, not evolving in a way that could overcome the way superman killed him. There has yet to be anything that really demonstrates that Doomsday has performed and feats of strength in the SHZ range, like say, Superboy Prime has.

Let's not forget, the Hulk has beaten the Sentry who has pretty much been prtrayed as comparable to Superman level power.
Also I don't think i've seen just about anything depicting Doomsday lifting anywhere near SHZ levels.

Comic Books are actually getting a great deal more mainstream acceptance.
The number of movie properties alone is proof of the public's desire to see things that are related to comics. But also specific titles are getting reviews in mainstream publications like Entertainment Weekly, the New York Daily News , Maxim, the LA Times, and many more. The San Diego comic con is a televised even

Braniac, but i don't think it's as clear cut as we would think. Ultron has co-opted the Phalanx which seems certainly as mechanicly inclined and advanced as Braniac. However, I still think braniac wins this one, but the fight would be pretty boring. Both of them look at each other, they start trying to wirelessly hack one another and just stand still until one or the other is victor

It started out as an Xavier Academy story. but as time has gone on, the character went on as a street level solo hero, to becoming an Avenger, and now leads her own Avengers team.
On the downside i'm swamped with running NPC's . Starting out, the character was a
