That is a great question about the pre-established characters. The reason that they did not change is the essence of the tweaking of the rank system that I did. There was no need. The idea was for the new ranks was to give better definition to those upper ranks, not as a means to rewrite the system. Also, the good majority of the characters in the book, were under the AM rank in most of their ranks anyways, so no need to change.
A few nods went out for a few characters. Mr Fantastic and Dr Doom got there Reason bumped up to Fantastic, while all the other super-geniuses stayed at AM. This was my tribute nod to those characters as the preiminate geniuses of the Human MU.
Spidy got a Fantastic Agility, while most characters stayed at AM. The reason? just to give nod to Spidey's skills. I look at Spidy vs Nightcrawler as the example. There has been a few encounters between these two and each time Nightcrawler has been "outnimbled" by Spidey, so it stood to reason that Spidey deserved the FN rank.
But I also used it as an oportunity to less a few characters too. Iron Man is a great example. A few powers and stats were old MN (75), but instead of going to new MN(80), I dropped them to SP (70). Not a big drop, but a statistic difference. Why, you may ask? Cause Iron Man has such a large array of weapons and other high stats, it felt a good balance to drop the stats a touch to compensate for the veriety of weapon/sensors/armor.
Those were my guide lines when i retooled the Pre-generated characters. But also, to show that thes new ranks did not mean all the characters had to be reworked. Only a small percent were touched and90% of those adjustment were for Strenght levels (like Rouge going to FN (60) and the Thing going to (90)).
So that is my reasons for the change or lack of change.
