I agree. not about politics. I let my disgust of the U.N.and Marvel's decision to get involved with them influence my post with others that are apologists for it.
don't know about shouting though. highlighting a phrase is not the same thing.

Decreasing violence and the United Nations is a oxymoron. PLEASE CHECK.
And my point is I find the Marvel company involving themselves with U.N. an organazation which I find mostly ( historically ) a FAILURE the main disappointment.
If you wish me to make a list of failures of the U.N. let me know.

Ya mean like France, Russia and the UK exploiting the oil for food program to make Billions on others suffering then I agree with you. ( i'm sure the U.S. is still the great satan in many peoples eyes. yawn. )
Personally the U.N. has over the years besmirched the U.S even though we house and fund them ecomically more than any other country. I think it's time for some other country to

Good points analyst. If Marvel would remember all of the capabilities and past combat history of IRONMAN ( SKIN ARMOR ) he would be on the lower end of your list. The mix of tech.-power and a near reed richards intellect he has the possibility of winning against the heavyweights.
But nowadays he's just a whipping boy sudo-villain that Marvel writers ignore his power capabilities.

sounds nice and wholesome but I'm not a fan of Marvel using Spiderman to shill for the United Nations and there agenda with the chance of child indoctrination. and yet maybe it will be a good thing.
Hard to trust an organazation who has caused more trouble after it's inception then helped ( but it has done some good too! )

Again Beyonders - not the point or didn't you read the whole post or scan the other threads or the point about oral narrative or Scarlet Witch or GM storytelling or etc etc.
Also- not that it matters based on what the thread is really about but... Galactus size varies and can be as small as 10.9 feet.
And his standard height is 28'.9" and weighs 18.2 tons according to the Mar

um, you missed the point.
anyway the specific action cromm-well discussed is Cap's shield used like a coin/disc under galactus's foot while he is stepping- similar to when people trip and fall on a marble or a round stone- this of course was with Cap's high roll and a missed roll according to rule mechanics + the Scarlet Witch!!! using her power.
the general point was about o

NiniriAZ,
I agree with your overall comment/advice, but what is the particular threads or people you are talking about? I hope I haven't crossed a line somewhere?
personally I have been disappointed in much of what is being passed as a worthy topic nowadays.

Well this is not as old as I thought.
But with narrative role-playing-games the mix of dice-roll results and GM story telling almost anything is possible.
of course they say this about comic books in general.

I concur. The same thing happened to me years ago with Ironman ( around 1994 ) by 1996 and Onslaught- I was done.
I have all the Marvel Masterworks that reprint all his early comics (TOS#39+) plus issue #1 thru 332 of his own comic. sorry to see the streak end - oh well.
There are many more characters that I gave up on ( not that some later reboots did not have good stories but... ) when t

Speaking of loyalty.
Who is going to stay with 1 or more Spidey titles or who will call it a day.
If you have a real long run on a Spidey title would'nt you just KEEP buying them until you started liking it again???
Is it courage, cowardice or good sense to stop buying an old favorite comic book???

capo, I think you sticking up for new comics is right on and I agree they are more polished and tighter than the era ( with of course exceptions you have talked about before ) before 2000.
But you must admit alot of the work in mainstream superhero comics was degrading from 1989 to about 1997.
so the work overall nowadays does seem better to me and the selection of comics to choose from a

I agree with you about writer loyalty. And yet I bought everything I could get my hands on by FRANK MILLER ( I loved his work ) even after I noticed he was going down hill in the late 90's 2000's. His work to me has not been as strong as it was in the 80's - early 90's.

How many of you comic book readers in your buying career have kept buying a certain comic month to month out of loyalty even when you disliked or hated the quality or events in that comic?

There are alot of fans who have stayed loyal to certain characters ( or books ) and have long runs of those comics. They stay with those books not just for the good stuff ( when they may write a letter saying how they like it ) but even for the BAD STUFF ( when they write letters saying how they dislike it ).
It should always be that way with true comics fans.

with holes in the game trying to patch some rules up is not a sin.
I always like what Martial art A did in the basic rules that one had to assume was the same thing in Advanced Marvel rpg we ( my players and I ) " folded over " the rule even though it is not mentioned specificly for strength vs. endurance blah blah blah.

Speaking of comic book heroes and death: Has Marvel ever killed off a mainstream hero and kept him dead, and is to this day dead?!?
The said hero would have at least of been dead for more than 72 issues.
Note: there have been mainstream = semi-major to major characters that have been dead more than 72 issues worth of time but they EXIST in some form or another--- or are OUTRIGHT ALIVE!

Minor character continuity is what Nightmask and I are refering to.
How about making Tony Stark or Steve Rodgers bi-sexual or gay? ( admittedly more serious than language )
it would be out of what is known as character tendencies for certain people to act in a way not normal without qualitative reasons.

Myself owning all the original Ironman and Avengers comic runs ( almost 800 comics! ) I would chalk it up to bad writing and editorship that goes to illustrate the slow degrading of minor ( and sometimes major ) continuity at Marvel.
But Capo does make a point about suppossed certainties with supporting characters. In this instance I disagree with him. If Jarvis would of used the squiggle-line
