There IS that.

The other big issue with Cable is the inconsistency you've noted. The responsibility for that falls squarely on the shoulders of whatever writer is working with him.

In one issue, he's powerful enough to bitchslap a Celestial. The next, he's getting his head handed to him by D-List yahoos.

No one's really written him in a way to make him definitive, that people would *freak* if it was changed.

It also explains why his model statistics are always askew.

Yea...... I figured his 'Character' was a little more free flowing than most others.......

But, for Gaming he seems a little LOWish...... especially in the Health Department.... Every illustration of Cable, LOOKS WAY BAD AZZ, but you'd think his Fighting, Strength, and Endurance would probably be UBER Super Human-ish............. Just a little...... maybe-ish..

The thing is...*sigh*...

What you're doing is assigning traits to a character based solely upon their appearance. Generally speaking, that's usually a safe bet. Sometimes, though, it's a matter of books, covers and not judging.

Cable is a supposed to be a soldier. He darn well *better* look like a brick wall of a man if he's survived all those lethal mutant wars in the future.

But regular Joes look like Cable, even in the real world, and they don't have the equivalent of the stats you've mentioned.

Sure, we all can agree that Cable is a bad-@#$%&. Rob-muthafrakkin'-Liefeld aside, I think Cable is a pretty interesting character, too. But he's not a better hand-to-hand fighter than Captain America, certainly can't keep up in terms of Agility with Spider-Man, DEFINITELY cannot lift 50 tons, and is not so durable that he rivals She-Hulk.

What I think happens when you "model" like that is you remove some of the shine off of other characters and replace it with a bunch of silly numbers. If everyone has She-Hulk's resilience, then why the heck is she so special?

Anyway, I'm rambling. And if you want Cable to be UBER in your campaign, knock yourself out, man. But for the rest of us, there's nothing in comic continuity that suggests amping this guy up.

Well.... He does have Psychic Telekinesis of MN:75....

I'm not sure what that power totally encompasses but I guess Cable can probably use this Power to manipulate various Energies and Alter Physics a little bit.....

Basically, allowing him to have any Athletic Ability boosted to MN:75 for a short while..... And it looks as though he has mastered some Jedi / Sith 'Force' skills as well.....

I just thought his HP would be closer to 200 to 250-ish... And most of his "Brute" comes from his Battle Hardened Physical Condition...

Then again, maybe he is supposed to be illustrated as 'Exhausted' most of the time, just simply pushing his 'Human' body to the limit due to constant Combat Survival....... Which can actually do more harm than good..... OR maybe he's sort of young, but looks older, and is just learning to master his Mutant Powers.....

He's a 'KICK-AZZ' Character.... And he's on par with the other X-Men.....

But he looks like he could throw Iron-Man in a head-lock and give 'im a Nueggy.....

Cable is a normal guy who's worked himself up over the years of hardships he's endured. That said, his stats in my opinion are:

Fighting: Incredible. The guy's been through more intense war than Nick Fury, and that's saying something.

Agility: Remarkable. He's agile, but bot olympic gymnast level.

Strength: Excellent (Remarkable on his techno organic arm). I can see his build giving him the strength of an iron man powerlifter (the competition, not the superhero) competitor. He's still not superhuman in this department, though. Just because someone has big muscles in Marvel doesn't mean they're super strong.

Endurance: Incredible. Remarkable is peak human and being a mutant gives him +1CS into being barely superhuman. I can totally see this, but no higher.

Reason: Remarkable. He's been shown to actually comprehend and modify much of the futuristic/alien tech he uses. He's no dunce, but he's no Tony Stark.

Intuition: Amazing. The optics in his eye combined with his being a powerful psi make this guy pretty in tune with his surroundings.

Psyche: Amazing. He's naturally strong willed like Wolverine or Storm, but he's also a powerful psi, so he gets bumped up to Amazing.

Health: 130, which is fine for the likes of Cable. Healths of 200-250 are reserved for the likes of truly heavy physical hitters like She Hulk, Thing or Wonder Man.

Karma: 130, which also makes sense for a guy who's one of the more powerful psions on the planet.

Actually being a fan of Cable...

His inconsistencies are due strictly to the fact that his power levels have fluctuated more than once over the past few years since he was introduced back in 89-90 [commin up on 20 years of Cable. Awesome.]

But the reasons for his depowerings are usually cogent. Such as the TO virus requiring so much of his focus that he can't utilize his powers at their full potential. Currently, his Telepathic/Telekinetic powers don't even work, he has to use the Infonet and a Gravimetric Sheath to simulate his previous mutant powers.

In his most current status, Ben Reily's stats look pretty accurate. The only thing i think is off is the Bodyslide, which he was using technology on providence to make happen. Ever since Providence's destruction, I don't think I've seen Cable Bodyslide since his reappearance in Messiah Complex, which is why he's walkin all over the place with that baby. So i would say he can't do the global teleport thing. but other than that, Reily's stats are pretty much right on.
