Issue: #1 "Straight from the Source."

Ever since his uncle gave him a glow-in-the-dark cardboard longbox full of old comic books and superhero role playing game manuals for Christmas, Axel Asher became fascinated with an obscure character named Access, who, interestingly enough, was his namesake in various inter-company crossover events. Axel spent more time than perhaps he should have constantly trying to escape his mundane life through imagining the full ramifications of combining the "Marvel Multiverse" with the "DC Multiverse" and playtesting them with his friends.

Several in-game universes were destroyed and rebooted through the years as Axel and his friends tried to articulate how such a Multiverse would operate from its cosmological pecking order down to the history of this universe, which evolved and retconned and what if'ed and elseworlded right along with throwing the effects of DC's crises into the mix.

The last gaming session saw Manhattan and everything within 100 miles incinerated in a tremendously huge explosion that killed a vast majority of Axel's friends favorite characters, many without warning as the shockwave hit 10, 30, 50, 100 miles out from the epicenter and continuity was decided. Axel's friends began to lose interest in playing. "When do we get to play our own characters?" they'd complain.

There was only one thing avid fanboy Axel Asher ever wanted for Christmas, and that was for his two favorite comics publishing companies to set aside their corporate differences once and for all and merge their efforts into a single coherent continuity, without creating the Amalgam characters that resulted during the crossover involving his namesake, so that he and his friends could truly run a "perfect" merged universe game campaign.

Santa Claus, because he can give Galactus that gift he's always wanted; a regenerating world he can feed on endlessly and never have to eat another planet with sentient life on it again. :)

"A shared universe, like any fictional construct, hinges on suspension of disbelief. When continuity is tossed away, it tatters the construct. Undermines it."

Issue #2: "3x2[9YZ]4A minus Z25Y[2AB]6 days 'til X-Mas"

Axel Asher awakens the next day, his bed strewn with comic books and superhero gaming materials. He gets up, and starts putting away his comics in the glow-in-the-dark longbox when he notices a comic book he'd never seen or read before, entitled "Johnny Quick: Herald of Galactus?" Huh? Johnny Quick was never a herald of Galactus. They're not even in the same comic book universe...

Axel opens the comic book, only to find the panels inside flitter with strange energy, but have no distinct images. He puts the comic book into the longbox and grabs his cell phone to call his friends. The phone, though fully charged, does not connect to any signal. So, he decides to go to his friend Travis Lee's house. Packing up the longbox, Axel heads out into the streets of New York City.

And everything seems different. Buildings that should be there are not. Familiar old buildings look new and clean. Cars from the 1930s putter by on the streets. Axel finds a newstand. The dateline on the Daily Bugle - *THE DAILY BUGLE!* - October 30th, 1938...

Next issue: "Miracle Man on 34th Street."

Issue #3 "Miracle Man on 34th Street"

This world is not his own, yet Axel Asher knows it - elements of comic books in his collection are cropping up in real life around him. And somehow, he's gone back in time to the day before Halloween, 1938.

As Axel peruses the Daily Bugle he finds a small editorial...

...the Crisis in Czechoslavakia appears to be escalating as Adolf Hitler appeared before a massive rally delivering more bellicose rhetoric than ever and symbolically wielding what he claimed to be a Spear of Destiny, his "gift" from the "Thundering God" to see Nazi Germany triumphant. This insidious Hate Monger seems to be on a collision course for war with Western Europe...

Axel winced as he recalled history. Kristalnacht in a week and a half. "Damn you, Loki..." Axel muttered.

"Hey pal, this ain't a library. You gonna pay for that?"
