Issue: #1 "Straight from the Source."
Ever since his uncle gave him a glow-in-the-dark cardboard longbox full of old comic books and superhero role playing game manuals for Christmas, Axel Asher became fascinated with an obscure character named Access, who, interestingly enough, was his namesake in various inter-company crossover events. Axel spent more time than perhaps he should have constantly trying to escape his mundane life through imagining the full ramifications of combining the "Marvel Multiverse" with the "DC Multiverse" and playtesting them with his friends.
Several in-game universes were destroyed and rebooted through the years as Axel and his friends tried to articulate how such a Multiverse would operate from its cosmological pecking order down to the history of this universe, which evolved and retconned and what if'ed and elseworlded right along with throwing the effects of DC's crises into the mix.
The last gaming session saw Manhattan and everything within 100 miles incinerated in a tremendously huge explosion that killed a vast majority of Axel's friends favorite characters, many without warning as the shockwave hit 10, 30, 50, 100 miles out from the epicenter and continuity was decided. Axel's friends began to lose interest in playing. "When do we get to play our own characters?" they'd complain.
There was only one thing avid fanboy Axel Asher ever wanted for Christmas, and that was for his two favorite comics publishing companies to set aside their corporate differences once and for all and merge their efforts into a single coherent continuity, without creating the Amalgam characters that resulted during the crossover involving his namesake, so that he and his friends could truly run a "perfect" merged universe game campaign.
