Actually, as long as any money is NOT made as a direct result of the magazine, it is protected under Fair Use laws. Would they still have the power to shut it down? Yes. But they also have the power to shut all of these sites down, but they don't. Marvel is only going to go after you if they think you're cutting into their bottom line.

one possible scenario :
Marvel rerelease a new game system. Meantime the classic version has such a following that Marvel believe it to be adversely affecting sales of the new game system.

Out march the lawyers and boom... goodbye great website.

Well, a possibility I guess. But, that didn't happen with either the SAGA or this "stone" Marvel Universe system. Both of those games died but we the fans of classic MSH didn't get blamed. You probably just gave them an idea for next time.

Here is a slightly different scenario ...

Marvel catches wind of what is happening here, clues into the fact that the unsupported Classic Marvel RPG keeps cutting into their other company sponsored, but presumably crappy RPGs, and thus, instead of killing popular support for the Classic system, decides to plug back into it instead?!?!?!

Of course, some of these comicbook types think that the way to keep fans interested is to completely change everything the fans originally liked about the chgaracter or title to begin with ... and then attempt to rationalize and justify such "transmutations" as "development" and "progress".

Bah, who wants to make money away :!)o
