well, usually you refer to it as "the Turn", or turn of the century. in this case, it might get referred to as "the 2K", but that is speculation. i know when my Great Grandfather always referred to the first ten years of the 20th Century, that is 1900 to the misinformed, as ought what ever year. example: "i got married in ought five" referring of course to 1905.

one thing that you have to remember is the bizarre concept of Marvel time. Despite 40+ years of issues and characters, the idea is that this is all taking place in a span of less than 10 years. So the FF only got their powers like 8 years ago. I know, logically this makes no sense what so ever, but it is the convention that needs to happen otherwise Spidey would be 55-ish swinging around. you could do a game on Joust. Nothing like Marvelizing ostriches and lance damage. What would the flight speed of an ostrich be?
Another cool 80's game was Rolling Thunder. It was a rare one, but you ran though various levels killing multi-colored KKK-like characters. When you shot them they melted. It was great 80s violence.

I have seen these ranks before. There is a set that is similar, if not the same, posted here on this web site. Actually, these benchmarks are responsible for the names that I've used for my new system. Originally, we had used the names Crazy, Stupendous, and Outrageous. I liked the new names and felt that Fantastic needed to be on a role chart of a Marvel game. I mean com'on! Didn

Believe me, I would too. But first things comes first. I needed to establish the expanded ranks before I tackle an entire Universe. It'll be a big undertaking, but redefining the upp

Thanks, I'm glad you like the choices I've made. All my covers are from Alex Ross, which are all credited in the books. I just love his artwork and, IMHO, give a touch of class to the books. I'm really happy about the UPB, it is so simple, yet says it all.

Ok, I got word back from this site that my books will get posted, which is great. One other way I just thought of getting the books is to go on a Gnutella P2P network. I work on a Mac, so I use Acquisition, but Limewire or any of the other Gnutella will work. Anyways, do a search for "MSH PHB-X.pdf" (without the quotes) and "MSH UPB-X.pdf" you should find my files. Ok, I'm going to be editing the Judge's Book. This one will take a bit more time, but I'll probably get through it by the weekend. This is the current cover.
By the way, I've finished the Player's Handbook and the Ultimate Powers Book. I'll figure out how to get it out to everyone that wants one.

This is a long ways away, but I thought I would put it out there. A DC Universe Source Book. It will have locations, city descriptions, major and minor characters and much, much more. It will basically be the DC Universe Handbook translated for Marvel stats. This source book will also be compabtible with my upcoming release of the Advanced Net Rules, which has the expanded benchmarks that thi

Hey, I just wanted to give you a sneak peak at the edited books that utilize the new benchmarks I've presented. These are basically simple edits of the original text that have the added new Ranks in them. The PHB is almost done, I'm just getting stumped on the Magic section. The UPB is a much bigger undertaking, so that may be a little while.

First of all, there is no rule of a +4CS for a dive. The max is +3CS with a cap of Shift-Z. And it is also for

Not to pour a gallon of kerosene on this fire, but I have always used the stats for Hyperion (which is a parallel world Superman). According to the Marvel Handbook vol 2, Hyperion's Fighting stats are Unearthly. I've always reasoned it as a combination of fighting talent, super-speed, experience, and a touch of "divine-grace." The Divine Grace is that dignity given to the

I've always treated it as another roll and moved on. If your PCs do these Karma spending Red FEAT rolls too early in the game, they run out of Karma when they need it. More experienced PCs realize this and typically only do Karma Red FEATs when they absolutely need it. Most of my PCs, and myself, declare to spend the Karma and then just spend enough to get the Green or Yellow FEAT. I don

A long time ago, I had revised the Roll chart and made new benchmarks (geeze, not another one!). Yeah, I know, I'm trying to fix the game. The ironic part is that I created this for someone else, I don't use it. I like the Marvel ranks and roll chart. I think the vagueness and ambiguity is an important aspect of the play in this game. It can lead to some perplexing situations, like Spid

That is a very good point. It always bothered me that Spider-man could lift up to 50 tons with a Red feat. I'm a huge Spidey fan, but that is way out of his league. The same goes to a few other characters. It would make logical sense to drop just about everyone a rank, but that idea only works for the Higher stat holders. Cap America Strength level works out just fine, and so do the man

sure, the powers in UPB are similar, but there are no rules for a slow-recharging energy source, hence it is a limitation. PC5, which is the power that I assume you were referring to, only states what happens if the source is gone (whether destroyed or missing) not if it has "restricted access" to the character. It also seems more geared to Mystics as the character has to make FEAT ro

Oh, I forgot to mention, the drop in ranks do not affect the characters health, it only affects FEATS during those rounds of weakness. I think everyone assumed that one because I did not get jumped on this omission. I just had to say it just to be official.

I think the point is that it required THREE hits to barely exceed One hit. It'll take 5 hits to equal 2 hits from the AM strength guy, and then 7 to equal 3 ... Besides, getting ganged-up is really going to hurt! So quit calling the AM strength guy a wimp! Sorry, but your argument translate to me like this: "I can't believe getting hit by a Volkswagen Bug three times hurts more

In all honesty, if I was the Judge, I would not let the character have any lightning bolt aspects of Weather Control. Just because it is mentioned in the UPB (or other sources) does not mean EVERY aspect of that power is available to the character. GD rank is just too weak to summon naturally occurring lightning bolts in my opinion. Now if the Judge deems that the lightning comes FROM the char

Ok, I didn't think you were talking about PC1 because it is a much different Power with similar aspects. Power Control can work over a (potentially) wide range of powers or energy spectrum, but not Ability scores, while Power Boost will only affect ONE Power or Ability. Power Control also does not have the draining aspect that Boost does. Just think of Boost as an explosive, unrefined Pow
