I purchased it to play it , turned out it was not my cup of tea. . .I am too old fashioned and admit that I was angered that it was not what I had hoped for so my scathing review is tainted with my dissapointment personally.
I consider it just a game with rules that can be used as a roleplaying game. But as per my most previous post you can see that it is totally different in it's mechanics from the road more travelled. This does not make it a terrible game, just not what makes me happy when recreating a superhero universe. It all comes down to what floats your boat. WotC came out with a trading card game based upon the X-Men that , in my opinion, has original and interesting mechanics and is a lot of fun to play. The rat bastards never came out with an expansion set. They released th game to coincide with the release of the X-Men movie. In fact , at participating theatres, "unique" game cards representing each of the mutants in the movie were given out as a promotion. I suppose that the game never caught on (too bad) and WotC cut their loses. However, just as with this website, some dude set up a site and presented "homemade" cards for non X-Men heroes like Spiderman, Hulk , and dozens of villians (including Galactus) so that one could print 'em out on cardstock paper and use them with the X-Men cards. He hasn't updated his site in over a year, so I suppose that the thrill is gone or he is dead. It is strictly a battle strategy game, but I would choose it over SAGA anytime. She isn't stronger by much -- She Hulk's Strength is 17, Colossus's is 16 (in Osmium Steel form).
What I listed wasn't the character's stats, it was the pic that went along with each Aura (dot, minus, or plus), Value (1-10), and Suit (Agility, Doom, Intellect, Strength, or Willpower). --------------------- Be Ex/20 to one another!

This is what I envisioned instead of using cards. roll D10 1 = DOOM 2-3 = STRENGTH D20+1 4-5 = AGILITY D20+1 6-7 = REASON D20+1 8-9 = PSYCHE D20+1 10 = DOOM roll 1 d10 and 1 d6 if doom was rolled then on the d6, 1-3 the Aura is positive or 4-6 the Aura is negative. Any other suit Roll 1 d10 and subtract 1 (then on the d6, 1-2 the Aura is negative, 3-4 the Aura is neutral, 5-6 the Aura is negative.) Consult table. I have to say that I am having trouble getting people to comment on the variation that I came up with for Martial Arts. I posted it in Martial Arts house rules and asked for feed back and so far the microphone and speaker system has given me more feedback than anyone else on that topic. I know that there is alot more rolling to get the same results But it is one possible way of dispensing with the cards. I have been thinking recently of a way to use the cards as a GM prop. Ie if you are stuck for an event then have a good dictionary handy and shuffle the deck then pull a card and see what Ideas come to mind. It could be any thing from the character showing up to assist or impeed the PC's or an Idea that sparks from there.
